Jamia Nizamia was established as an Ahle Sunnah Institution by its founders. It is important that its Ahle Sunnah identity is protected by the faculty, students and Administrators of this Institution.
Facts have been described, as they are, in the Article. We hope our readers will take it positively and benefit from it.
The article is divided into two parts, as follows:
Jamia Nizamia's history, curricula and Maslak.
Jamia Nizamia's Association with Ammanis.
JAMIA NIZAMMIA'S HISTORY, CURRICULA AND MASLAK
Jamia Nizamia, was established in 1876 in the Eastwhile State of Hyderabad, Deccan. The Seminary is named after the Nizams (rulers) of the Erstwhile State of Hyderabad under whose patronage it flourished. The courses offered are (i) Moulvi, (ii) Alim, (iii) Fazil, and (iv) Kamil.
claims that their courses are recognized by (i) Osmania University, (ii) Aligarh Muslim University, (iii) Jamia al-Azhar, (iv) Jamia Ummul Qura, Makka, (v) Jamia Islamia, Madina and (vi) University of Kuwait. The Seminary has a FB Page where their day to days activities can be viewed.
Jamia Nizamia is an Islamic Seminary, therefore, its focus for over 140 years has been on imparting religious education since its inception in 1876.
However in 2016, Jamia approached Osmania University for recognition of its courses. The recognition was granted to Jamia Nizamia in September 2017. Jamia Nizamia's Fazil was recognized as equivalent to BA (Oriental Languages) and Kamil was recognized as MA (Oriental Languages).
The founder of this University was Shaikh Awaarullah Khan Farooqui (رحمة لله علىـہ). His followers call him Imam and Shaikh ul Islam.
An interesting story has been reported about the inception of this Seminary. It is reported that on Saturday, January 15, 1876 (19 Dhul Hijja, 1292 AH), a meeting of some Arabic teachers took place at the house of Maulvi Muzafarruddin in Hyderabad. During this meeting, the idea of establishing an Islamic Seminary came up. All present liked the idea and unanimously gave this responsibility to Anwaarullah Khan, who was 27 years old then. Khan, who was present in this meeting, accepted the responsibility and within a few months time, established the Seminary and became its first teacher. Later, as the Seminary progressed, it was named Jamia Nizamia and Maulvi Anwaarullah Khan became its de facto Head. Read more.
Maulvi Anwaarullah Khan (1849 - 1918) was born on February 26, 1849 ( 4 Rabia II, 1265 AH) in Nanded District of Erstwhile State of Hyderabad (currently part of Maharashtra State). His paternal lineage meets with Amir-ul-Momineen, Hadhrat Omar Farouq (رضئ الله تعالى عنه) in 40th generation.
He received early education from his father, Abu Mohammad Shujauddin; memorized Quran at the age of 11, and studied Islamic subjects under some other teachers. In 1879, he was appointed as Arabic Teacher of Nizam VI (Mahboob Ali Khan) when the Nizam was 13 years old and Maulvi Anwarullah Khan was 30 years old. He continued in this capacity for some time.
In 1891 he was made teacher of the Young Nizam VII (Mir Osman Ali Khan), the son of Nizam VI, who was 5 years old then. In 1911, Nizam VI died and the Crown Prince Mir Osman Ali Khan became the VIIth Nizam of Hyderabad State.
In 1915, Maulvi Anwaarullah Farooqui was appointed as Chief Justice (صدر الصدور) of Hyderabad, Deccan by the VIIth Nizam. In 1916, he was made Minister of Religious Affairs (وزير مذھبي امور) of Hyderabad, the largest princely state in Indian Sub Continent. He continued in this capacity for two years till his death in 1918.
Maulvi Anwaarullah Farooqui took baya on the hand of Shaikh Imdadullah Mohajir Makki (1814-1896) in Makka, Arabian Peninsula in 1877 at the age of 28 years when he went for Hajj for the first time. It is reported that he did Hajj 3 times, in 1877, 1884 and 1888. After his last Hajj, he stayed in Makka al-Mukarrama for three years, till 1891. During this stay he received Khilafa from his Shaikh Imdadullah Mohajir Makki.
It is reported that Shaikh Anwaarullah Farooqui did not make Murideen and focused his attention on teaching and developing Jamia Nizamia. He wrote many books. Some of his books are still taught at Jamia Nizamia at various levels. His famous book 'Anwaar-e-Ahmadi' is available in PDF format on this link.
Shaikh Anwaarullah Farouqi died on March 13, 1918. He was buried in Jamia Nizamia Campus in Hyderabad.
Jamia Nizamia celebrated 100th Urs of their founder as per lunar calendar in March 2015.
Shaikh Anwarullah Farooqui's had a long association with the rulers of Hyderabad and at one time he worked as Minister of Hyderabad State. But he preferred to focus his attention towards religious education of Muslims. He established Jamia Nizamia when he was 27 years old and worked for its development for the following 42 years, till his death in 1918. No doubt, his educational services are exemplary.
The services of scholars/teachers who were associated with this Institution since 1918, after the death of the founder, are also commendable. It is the collective efforts of all of them, that has contributed to safeguard this Institution and ensured its survival for the past 140 years. Praise is also due for the people of Hyderabad who helped this institution financially, year after year, in thick and thin, and contributed in safeguarding this Seminary for future generations.
, the Shaikh of Maulvi Anwaarullah Farooqi was an Indian Shaikh of Chishti Order. In 1857 during the first war of Indian Independence, Muslims declared war against the British in Thana Bhawan (a district in Uttar Pradesh State of India). Their leader was Haji Imdadullah. The British overpowered and started punishing the people who were associated with this Muslim Army. To avoid persecution by the British, Haji Imdadullah immigrated to Makka al-Mukarrama. He died in Makka al - Mukarrama in 1896 and was buried in Jannatul Mualla.
The history of Deobandi sect is directly related with Shaikh Imdadullah Mohajir Makki, therefore we provide here a brief account of historical events that culminated in the formation of this Sect in India.
Shaikh Imdadullah Mohajir Makki had many Khulafa. But he became famous for his Khulafa who established Deobandi Sect in India. Their names are as follows.
(i) Qasim Nanotvi, (ii) Rasheed Ahmed Gangohi, (iii) Ashraf Ali Thanvi, (iv) Muhammed Abid Deobandi, (v) Mehmud-ul-Hasan Deobandi, (vi) Azizur Rahman Deobandi, (vii) Asghar Husain Deobandi, (viii) Muhammad Anwar Deobandi, (ix) Syed Husain Ahmed Madani, (x) Ahmed Hasan Amrohi, (xi) Khalil Ahmed Saharanpuri, etc.
The division of Ahle Sunnah in India started after the death of Shah Waliullah Muhaddith of Delhi in early 1770s when Wahhabi sect (founded in Najd, Saudi Arabia by Mohammad Ibn Abdul Wahhab in early 1740s) infiltrated into the ranks of Waliullah's successors.
Shah Ismail Dehelwi, considered to be the first Indian Wahhabi scholar, was the son of Shah Abdulghani, the grandson of Shah Waliullah. Deobandis call him Shah Ismail Shaheed. He wrote a book titled Taqwiatul Iman that consists of Wahhabi beliefs as propagated by the Founder of Wahhabism/Salafism, Ibn `Abd al-Wahhab Najdi.
The division between Wahhabis and Ahle Sunnah was complete in India when Shaikh Mohajir Makki's deviant Khulafa founded a new Deobandi Sect in early 1860s.
On May 21, 1866, Qasim Nanotve, Rasheed Ahmed Gangohi, Ashraf Ali Thanvi and others established the first Deobandi Seminary, Darul Uloom Deoband in Saharanpur District, India.
Darul Uloom Deoband has been instrumental in spreading Wahhabism in India and in removing the love of Prophet Mohammad (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) from the hearts of millions of innocent Muslims.
In February 2014, Saudi Minister of Islamic (Wahhabi) Affairs, Endowments, Call and Guidance, Sheikh Saleh bin Abdul-Aziz Al ash-Sheikh (direct descendant of Ibn Abdul Wahab) paid a visit to Darul Uloom Deoband.
Sheikh Saleh described Darul Uloom Deoband as Citadel (stronghold) of Wahhabi Islam. Read more.
Sheikh Saleh said it is the policy of Saudi (Wahhabi/Salafi) Government to make visits to those Seminaries that have been engaged in imparting Islamic (Salafi/Wahhabi) teachings. The Minister said, Darul Uloom Deoband is one of the most important and biggest (Salafi) Islamic Institution in Asia.
Welcoming the Saudi delegation, Darul Uloom Deoband Chief Mufti Abul Qasim Nomani sang the praises of Saudi King Abdullah for his 'contribution' to the propagation of (Salafi) Islam. He also praised Maulana Arshad Madni who heads one of the factions of the Jamiat-e-Ulama Hind, a sub group of Deobandis in India. Read more.
Earlier, in July 2013, a large delegation of Darul Uloom Deoband headed by Mufti Abul Qasim Nomani paid an official visit to Saudi Arabia on the invitation of Royal Saudi Family. During the meeting with the Darul Uloom delegation, Sheikh Saleh bin Abdul-Aziz Al ash-Sheikh said that Darul Uloom Deoband is one of the important and the biggest Islamic (Wahhabi) Institute of the Asia, which is rendering its services to (Wahhabi) Islam. Sheikh Saleh bin Abdul-Aziz Al ash-Sheikh praised Deobandi Ulema and its founders and lauded their services in keeping the teachings of (Wahhabi) Islam alive in the world for the past 150 years. EDUCATION SYSTEM OF JAMIA NIZAMIA
Jamia Nizamia Education System and course details are available on their Website. However, the website does not provide information if the Seminary was ever affiliated to any Islamic Institution in the world. Read more.
It is claimed on Jamia Nizamia Website that the Maslak of Jamia Nizamia is the same that was the Maslak of their founder Shaikh Anwaarullah Farooqui, ie., Ahle Sunnah wal Jama'a.
AHLE SUNNAH WAL JAMA'A
Currently, there are three types of Ahle Sunnah wal Jama'a in the world, as follows.
(i) Those, who are very vocal in refuting deviant beliefs of Deobandis, Salafis, Shias and like minded sects. They are very aggressive in their approach. They say whoever follows them and agrees with them in every issue is only Muslim. The others are out of Ahle Sunnah or rather out of Islam altogether. Forefront of this group are Barelwis.
Barelwis have some serious issues with them. Instead of focusing their attention on spreading Sahih Iman (Sahih Aqeeda of Ahle Sunnah) in the world, they focus their attention on their founder Aala Hadhrat and publicly impose his superiority over everyone else in the History of Islam. For Barelwis, Aala Hadhrat is not a scholar in Islam, rather the entire Islam is within Aala Hadhrat. They have devised a new term for Islam which is known as 'Maslak-e-Aala Hadhrat' (the way of Aala Hadhrat). In short, they have reduced Islam into the Fatawa books of Aala Hadhrat.
A follower of Barelwi scholar Aktar Radha Khan, on his FB page, has placed the big crown of Akhtar Radha Khan in the center and placed small pictures in small circles of Awliya-e-Kubar, even the Green Dome of Prophet Mohammad (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) and Ka'aba around it.
A Barelwi mosque has published this picture on their donation receipt book showing the crown of Barelwi scholar Akhtar Radha Khan over the dome of Khwaja Gharib Nawaz (رضئ الله تعالى عنه )
A hardcore follower of a Barelwi Organization Dawat-e-Islami (DI) has published this picture on his FB page placing the DI flags over the dome of Ghousul Azam Shaikh Abdul Qader Jilani (رضئ الله تعالى عنه) .
Barelwis have made Aala Hadhrat the central focal point of Islam and in the process have pushed all Sahabah, Imams, Awliya Allah, even Prophet Mohammad (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) and Khana-e-Ka'aba to the sidelines.
This picture is inscribed on the receipt book of a Barelwi Mosque in Bareli. They have placed the dome of Aala Hadhrat over Khana-e-Ka'aba and Green Dome of the Prophet (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم).
No one knows what Barelwis are trying to portray to the world?
Watch the following video clip. A Barelwi scholar is criticizing Wahhabi Government of Saudi Arabia for their action in banning books written by Aala Hadhrat. But look what he says in his speech at 3.22? He says, "if Quran was sent in Urdu, it would have been in the shape of Kanzul Iman."
Kanzul Iman is the Urdu translation of Quran done by Aala Hadhrat. We Muslims belief Quran to be the word of God. The Urdu translation done by Aala Hadhrat is the word of a creature. Aala Hadrat has written in his words what he understood from Quran. How can you claim the word of God and word of a Creature are the same? Are Barelwis associating divinity (Uloohiyat) with Aala Hadhrat and claiming the word of Aala Hadhrat is the word of God? Is Aala Hadhrat and his successive Barelwi scholars are treated as Godmen by Barelwis? Astaghfirullahal Azeem.
Barelwis have crossed all limits in Scholar Worship. A Barelwi Mufti Nizamuddin Rizwi of Jamia Ashrafia, Mubarakpur, issued a Fatwa in 2013 in which he has undermined Imams of Fiqh and their Schools of thoughts, (Hanafi, Shafii, Maliki, Hanbali) in a very derogatory way to prove the greatness of Maslak-e-Aala Hadhrat. He claimed that the focus of these four schools is related to miscellaneous issues in Islam and Maslak-e-Aala Hadhrat deals with primary (اعتقادی) issues.
The picture shows the Fatwa of Mufti Nizamuddin which claims that if anyone differs with Aala Hadhrat in his Maslak, which is based on his Fatawas, He is (i) Kafir, (کافر), (ii) deviant (گمراہ) and (iii) propagator of deviancy (گمرہ گر). He has used these three terms in his Fatwa.
Needless to say that this kind of outrageous attack on Imams of Fiqh and their established schools of thought is a blatant blasphemy. We hope sanity will come back to Barelwi scholars and their followers and they will see the facts of things and save themselves from slipping away from the right path of Islam.
Aala Hadhrat is a human being and an Ahle Sunnah Scholar. He spent his life in upholding the beliefs of Ahle Sunnah. He would not have imagined that his successive Scholars and their followers will devise an idol of him in their minds, worship him, and use him to form a cult within Muslims. Read more.
(ii) The second group of Ahle sunnah are those who focus their attention on Sahih Iman (Sahih Aqeedah). They respect all Sahabah, Aimma and Awliya Allah and do not impose supriority of their shuyookh over others. They are firm in their Ahle Sunnah Aqa'ed and openly caution people about the faithlessness of Deviant Sects like Salafis, Deobandis, Shias, etc. They are fearless and firm in their resolve. If a person is professing Kufria beliefs, they will caution him about it on his face and convince him about Sahih Iman with proofs from Quran and Sunnah in gentle words without hurting his feelings. They are soft spoken, do not preach hatred in society and try to keep away from worldly conflicts and controversies.
(iii) The third group of Ahle Sunnah are those who try to remain neutral on Sahih Iman issues. They stay away from correcting or criticizing the beliefs of Deviant sects. They consider all deviant sects as Muslims in all respects. For them, deviancy in the issues of Aqa'ed and deeds does not make much difference. Their approach is political and secular in nature. They attend Deviant sects' religious functions and invite them to their religious functions and show solidarity with deviant sects in private and public and feel pride in doing so. Privately, in their homes, they follow the beliefs of Ahle Sunnah wal Jama'a. They claim their close association, open cooperation and solidarity with deviant sects does not have any bearing on them. Jamia Nizamia's official policy belongs to this group.
The question is, why Jamia Nizamia has a soft corner for Deobandis / Salafis and their like minded groups?
The answer is available in the historical events that unfolded during Shaikh Mohajir Makki's time.
As we have described above, there were two types of Khulafa of Shaikh Imdadullah Mohajir Makki. A brief description about these Khulafa are provided below.
(i) After Shaikh Mohajir Makki immigrated to Makka al-Mukarrama, his Khulafa in India got divided into two distinct groups. One group stayed with the Maslak of their Shaikh, ie., Ahle Sunnah Wal Jama'a. Shaikh Anwaarullah Farouqui, the founder of Jamia Nizamia, belongs to this group.
(ii) The other Group deviated from Ahle Sunnah Maslak. They became founders of a new Deobandi sect in India. This group was very aggressive in their approach. Since they had revolted against Ahle Sunnah, they worked like missionaries to prove that what they portray was real Islam. For this purpose, they established their own madrasas and carried out a massive proselytizing campaign to bring innocent Muslims into their fold. They worked with cultist frenzy; changed Islamic literature, convinced people that Shaikh Mohajir Makki supported their deviated beliefs, re-wrote books of their Silsila, approached people personally by traveling on foot in 'Jama'ats' into the remote corners of the land to baptize them into their new sect. Their efforts had the blessings and patronage of British rulers, who saw it a golden opportunity to divide Muslims in India.
Apparently, Shaikh Mohajir Makki was a composed and god fearing person. He was stationed far away from the stage where this revolt drama was being enacted; therefore, was unable to gauge its intensity and foresee its far reaching devastating effects. Also everyone knew that the deviated group had the full backing of British rulers in India. He did not support their deviation from the right path of Islam, but could not take a decisive action in disowning them publicly. This kind of response from a well known Shaikh gave rise to a lot of confusion among Muslims. The Shaikh asked his faithful Khulafa in India (who stayed with his Ahle Sunnah maslak) to keep cool (for obvious reasons) and be content with writing some small booklets refuting the claims of the deviated group. This was the only choice in front of the Shaikh as the entire drama was enacted with the blessings of the British rulers who saw it a great opportunity to divide Muslims in India. The reluctance and passive approach of the Shaikh created confusion even among his Ahle Sunnah Khulafa. In the absence of a formidable refutation, the deviants thrived. Their growth continued unabated. The results are in front of us today.
We have provided below an example of what were the devastating effects of the above passive attitude.
Pir Meher Ali Shah of Golara (Pakistan) (1859-1937), famous for his opposition to Ghulam Ahmed Qadiyani, was one among the Ahle Sunnah Khulafa of Shaikh Imdadullah Mohajir Makki. In many of his books it is reported that he wrote 'alaihi rahma' for Ashraf Ali Thanvi, Anwar Shah Kashmiri and other Deobandi scholars.
Meher Ali Shah (1859-1937) lived during the life span of Aala Hadhrat ( 1856-1921) and both were very famous in Indian sub-continent. It is reported that he did not support the fatwa-e-kufr on Deobandi scholars issued by Aala Hadhrat. Instead, he issued his own Fatwa declaring all Deobandi Ulema as Ahle Sunnah. Watch the following video clip.
It is reported that when Anwar Shah Kashmiri, the famous Deobandi scholar visited Meher Ali Shah, he showed a lot of reverence and respect towards him. This shows that the group of Khulafa of Shaikh Mohajir Makki, who stayed on Ahle Sunnah Maslak, considered the deviant Khulafa as their 'Brothers in Silsila' (Peer Bhai) and Ahle Sunnah, even though their disrespect of Prophet Mohammad ( صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم ) and their Wahhabi beliefs were open, and well known to everyone in the world.
We now notice that many in Silsila of Pir Meher Ali Shah, particularly his successor Pir Naseeruddin Naseer and his followers have become the followers of Ammani sect. Read more.
Watch the following video clip in which Nasiruddin Naseer calls (at 0.56) all sects as کلمہ گو (meaning, Muslims) and calls late Anwer Shah Kashmiri, a well known Deobandi scholar (at 3.18) as (رحمة الله عليه). He also claims that no one has the right to call followers any Sect as deviant or Kafir. This is exactly what the Ammanis preach these days.
In the above video, at 5.50 Nasiruddin says that it is perfectly alright to study in Deobandi schools. He claims, no one becomes deviant (Kafir) by studying in Deoband schools. He conveniently forgets the fact that Deobandi schools are famous for brainwashing young children into the disrespect of Prophet Mohammad (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم), Sahabah and members of his house hold. The books taught at Deobandi schools, written by their scholars, are full of blasphemy of Prophet Mohammad (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) and Sahabah. If a young child is sent to these schools to learn Islam, surely he will come out from there totally brainwashed. The chances for him to follow Sahih Iman and get salvation in Hereafter will become bleak.
Picture shows Dr. Qadri, famous Ammani Scholar, and Pir Nasiruddin Naseer embracing each other with fondness on the occasion of Marriage of Dr. Qadri's son.
JAMIA NIZAMIA MASLAK
The passive hesitant approach of Shaikh Mohajir Makki towards his Deobandi Khulafa and their followers was continued by Shaikh Anwaarullah Farouqui as well. Jamia Nizamia is following the same policy to this date.
Critics of Jamia Nizamia say that Jamia Nizamia avoids refuting the beliefs of deviant sects and works in close association and cooperation with them. Jamia Nizamia Shuyookh are seen hand in glove with Deobandi/Wahhabi/Ammani scholars on public platforms and religious functions. There are many Deobandi teachers working in Jamia Niazamia campus, and many schools run by Deobandis are affiliated with this Seminary. This policy is identical with what Maher Ali Shah did, and what his followers are still doing - they consider Deobandis/Wahhabis as Ahle Sunnah and their 'brothers in silsila' (پیر بھائ).
Hamiduddin Aaqil Husami, (1928-2010), a famous Deobandi Scholar in Hyderabad, converted a large number of Hyderabadis into Deobandi/Ahle Hadith Sects. He was an alumni of Jamia Nizamia. He was the founder and head of a famous Deobandi Seminary Darul Uloom in Hyderabad and played a key role in brainwashing and removing the love of Prophet (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) from the hearts of thousands of innocent Muslims in Hyderabad. Critics of Jamia Nizamia say that Aaqil Husami and his followers have deep rooted clout over Jamia Nizamia which has resulted in the infiltration of many Deobandi/Wahhabi teachers into this Institution. An example of this infiltration is Sadiq Mohiuddin Faheem Naqshbandi, a hardcore Deobandi and staunch follower of Aqil Husami, who also studied from Jamia Nizamia.Sadiq Mohiuddin was appointed as Deputy Mufti of Jamia Nizamia. Critics say that since the Mufti of a Seminary is the face of that Institution, Sadiq Mohiuddin represents the official Maslak of Jamia Nizamia.
It is reported that Sadiq Mohiuddin openly declared Ibn Taymiyyah as 'Aashiq-e-Rasool (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) during his speech on the occasion of a Conference titled 'Jashn-e-Shaikhul Islam' in Raichur, Karnataka, India on March 7, 2015. He also used 'Rahmatullah alai with the names of Qasim Nanotvi and other Deobandi scholars. He equated Shaikh Anwarullah Farooqi with Qasim Nanotvi and based his argument on the fact that they were the Khulafa of Shaikh Mohajir Makki. He claimed that Shaikh Mohajir Makki accepted his Deobandi Khulafa as well as his Ahle Sunnah Khulafa, both, as Ahle Sunnah, and on the right path of Islam. He further claimed that Shaikh Mohajir Makki wrote in his book 'Faisla Haft Masala' that the differences between his Deobandi Khulafa and Ahle Sunnah Khulafa were limited to Hanafi, Shafii, and Maliki Fiqh. In short, Sadiq Mohiuddin led people to believe that Jamia Nizamia and Darul Uloom Deoband, both are one and the same, and their founders, Shaikh Anwarullah Farooqi and Qasim Nanotvi are both Ahle Sunnah and 'Brothers in Silsila' (Peer Bhai).
Sadiq Mohiuddin also talked very respectfully about Mirza Ghulam Ahmed Qadiyani during his speech and addressed him as 'Ghulam Ahmed Qadiyani Saheb' and claimed that Shaikh Anwarullah Farooqi was also respectful of Ghulam Ahmed Qadiyani in his book.
None of the Shuyookh / teachers of Jamia Nizamia ever denied the above statement of Sadiq Mohiuddin. Rather, he continued to be the Mufti of Jamia Nizamia and was seen on all public platforms with Jamia Nizamia's shuyookh.
This kind of message from a Mufti of Jamia Nizamia in which he equated the beliefs of the founder of Jamia Nizamia with the founders of Darul Uloom Deoband, and the silence of Jamia Nizamia's administration and shuyookh, definitely sows the seed of suspicion about Shaikh Anwarullah Farooqi and Jamia Nizamia in the hearts of people.
Since Muftis are the official spokespersons of an Institution, people have started questioning the credentials of Jamia Nizamia and its founder. Watch the following video clip.
Some teachers at Jamia Nizamia do not agree with the critics point of view. Forefront of these teachers is Mufti Ziauddin Naqshbandi, Shaikh ul Fiqh, Jamia Nizamia and Head of Abul Hasanath Research Center. Addressing an annual gathering in Raichur Branch of Jamia Nizamia in March, 2017, Mufti Ziauddin lambasted the critics of Jamia Nizamia in some very harsh words. Watch this video clip.
In February 2017, answering to a question in a local TV program, Mufti Ziauddin, claimed that Jamia Nizamia is still run as an Ahle Sunnah Institution. He reiterated that the Seminary was established by Shaikh Anwarullah Farooqui, an Ahle Sunnah Scholar and his books are still part of the curricula at Jamia Nizamia. The video was on You tube for a few months, but it looks it has been removed.
We found another related video on You tube in which Mufti Ziauddin Naqshandi is criticizing some Barelwi scholars for their criticism of Jamia Nizamia. Watch this video clip.
Critics of Jamia Nizamia say that the collusion of Jamia Nizamia with Deobandis is a serious issue. This has resulted in the popularity of Deobandis/Ahle Hadith in Hyderabad. In view of this dubious questionable behavior, over 98% of Ahle Sunnah mosques have been taken over by Deobandis/Ahle Hadith in Hyderabad. While the Shuyookh of Jamia Nizamia claim that they are Ahle Sunnah, but to the bewilderment of everyone, they are seen hand in glove with Deobandis/Salafis/Ammanis on all public platforms. Their actions portray secular (not Ahle Sunnah) image of Jamia Nizamia. Particularly, they are part of AIUMB and Minhaj-ul-Quran in Hyderabad. Both these organizations belong to Ammani sect. How is it possible that someone claims he belongs to Ahle Sunnah, at the same time he is openly part of Ammani Organizations? Read more.
Ziauddin Naqshbandi and Mufti Khaleel Ahmed, of Jamia Nizamia are seen as part of AIUMB in Hyderabad.
The critics question if Jamia Nizamia is an Ahle Sunnah Seminary, then why they appoint Deobandis as teachers and Muftis? Why Jamia Nizamia provides affiliation to Deobandi Madaaris? Why do the Shuyookh, teachers and alumni of Jamia Nizamia are part of Minhaj ul Quran, AIUMB and other Sulah-e-Kulli Organizations?
All India Ulema Masha'eq Board (AIUMB), an Ammani / Sulah-e-kulli organization, conducted a World Sufi Conference in India during March 17-20, 2016 in which prominent Ammani Ulema from around the world were invited. The Conference had full backing and support of the BJP Government in India. The Conference was inaugurated by Indian Prime Minister Shri Narender Modi. When Prime Minister Modi entered the Conference Hall all Ulema and participants of the Conference greeted him with the Slogan of "Bharat Mata Ki Jai".
It is a well known fact that "Bharat Mata" is a Hindu Goddess. When the slogan Bharat Mata Ki Jai is raised, it is meant to glorify this Goddess. In spite of this obvious fact, Dr. Qadri publicly supported the slogan and encouraged Muslims to raise this slogan. He declared those who do not support this slogan are 'illiterates' (Jaahil).
Picture shows Ashraf Ashrafi Head, AIUMB with Dr. Qadri during Sufi Conference in India in March 2016.
Picture shows Ashraf Ashrafi embracing Dr. Qadri during the Conference. Arif Mohiuddin who worked for Minhaj ul Quran in Hyd is also seen in the picture.
Ziauddin Naqshbandi is seen participating in the Ammani Conference along with Tanveer Hashmi, Head, AIUMB, Karnataka.
Critics say that these are the facts that signify that Jamia Nizamia has lost its Ahle Sunnah identity and has become an Ammani / Sulah-e-Kulli Institution.
AMMANI / SULAH-E-KULLI MASLAKThere are two types of Ammani / Sulah-e-Kulli Schools of thought, as follows:SULAH-E-KULLI GRADE (1)The Sulah-e-Kulli Grade (1) Group claims that oral recitation of Shahadah (Kalima Tayyiba) is sufficient for a person to be a Muslim. The actual beliefs of deviant sects do not matter to them. They misquote certain Quranic verses, Ahadith and statements of some scholars in this context and emphasize that everyone from all 73 Sects and their countless sub groups are Muslims. They do not want to correct the beliefs of the followers of deviant sects, rather they maintain cozy relationships with them and call them brothers in faith, in spite of the fact that they profess Kufria/blasphemous beliefs openly. When someone draws their attention towards this questionable behavior and reminds them about their responsibility to spread Sahih Iman (correct Islamic faith) in the world, they call him takfeeri.
This Sulah-e-Kulli group, in reality, are challenging the commandments of Allah, His Apostle Mohammad (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) and all our Imams of the past 1400 years who have elaborated what is Kufr, Shirk and what is Iman. The definitions used by our Ulema in this context clearly specify that even if you recite Kalima Tayyiba, there are certain actions on your part that take you out of the fold of Islam. These are as follows.(1) A person who denies Islam and its testimony (Kalima Tayyiba) or a person who considers belief in Prophet Mohammad (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) is optional, not compulsory for salvation in Hereafter is 'Infidel' (Kafir).(2) A person who associates divinity (Uloohiyat) with anything other than Allah (سبحانه وتعالى) and considers it worshipable, is a Polytheist (Mushrik).(3) A person who recites Kalima Tayyiba and claims himself to be Muslim but denies Islam in his heart is known as 'Hypocrite' (Munafiq).(4) A Muslim who leaves the fold of Islam is known as 'Apostate' (Murtad).(5) There are many types of 'Hypocrite Apostates' (Murtad Munafiq), as follows.(i) A person who recites Kalima Tayyiba, claims himself to be Muslim, but at the same time disrespects, and does blasphemy of Prophet Mohammad (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم), Sahabah, Imams and Awliya Allah is known as Hypocrite Apostate (Murtad Munafiq).(ii) A person who recites Kalima Tayyiba and claims himself to be Muslim but believes his God to have human-like physical body, two eyes, two hands, two legs, who is sitting over the skies, is known as 'Hypocrite Apostate (Murtad Munafiq).(iii) A person who recites Kalima Tayyiba, claims himself to be Muslim, but at the same time visits Hindu temples, Sikh Gurduwaras, Jew Synagogues, Christian Churches and participates in their functions and worship, is known as 'Hypocrite Apostate' (Murtad Munafiq).(iv) It is in Quran - لَا تَعْتَذِرُوا قَدْ كَفَرْتُم بَعْدَ إِيمَانِكُمْ [ Make no excuse; you have done Kufr after your Iman.] (At-Tauba - 66).(v) It is in Hadith - Among the worst of people is one with two faces (hypocrite). (Bukhari, Muslim)(vi) It is in Hadith - Prophet Mohammad (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) said: “Jews got divided into seventy one groups and Christians got divided into seventy two groups and my nation will get divided into seventy three groups. All the groups will be in Hell except one. They asked: “Allah’s Messenger (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) which one is it? He replied: “Those who will remain on the path on which I and my companions are today.” (Abu Dawood, Ibn Majah, Tirmidhi, Ahmad). All Ahle Sunnah Ulema, including Shaikh Ahmed Sirhindi, Maulvi Abdul Haq, Shah Waliullah, Shaikh Ahmed Radha Khan, Shaikh Imdadullah Mohajir Makki, Shaikh Anwaarullah Farooqui, Shaikh Mohammad Abdul Qadeer Siddiqui, Shaikh Syed Abdullah Shah Naqshbandi and others (رحمة الله عليهم اجمعين) are unanimous on the above issue.
SULAH-E-KULLI GRADE (2)The Sulah-e-Kulli Grade (2) Group also claims all 73 Sects and their sub groups are Muslims. In addition, they claim that everyone who believes in the existence of one God, irrespective of his actual perception and understanding, is a "believer" on par with Muslims. With this understanding, they have declared Christians, Jews, Buddhists and others as 'Believers' just like Muslims. Ammanis belong to this Group. Read more.It is important to note that a person who is suffering from Sulah-e-Kulli disease, starts claiming all 72 deviant Sects and their uncountable sub groups as Muslims irrespective of their open kufria/Blasphemous beliefs. If his disease is not treated in time, he starts claiming that there is a difference between people of the book and non believers as people of the book (Ahle Kitab) believe in the existence of one God. When his disease reaches to a fatal, irrecoverable stage, he claims that Christians and Jews are 'believers' just like Muslims because they also believe in one God. At this stage he starts claiming that belief in Prophet Mohammad (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) is optional, not necessary for salvation in Hereafter. Then he imposes 'the belief in one God theory' on other religions and starts claiming that Buddhists, Hindus and others are also believers because they also believe in one ultimate reality/God. This is exactly what happened in the case of Ammani sect.
It is in Hadith - Prophet Mohammad (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) said - Among Muslims, there will be some people (scholars and their followers) who will lead people according to principles other than Prophet's (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) Sunnah. There will be some others who will invite people to the doors of Hell and whoever accepts their invitation, he will be thrown in Hell. These misguided people will be from within the Muslim community. Muslims should stick to their chief (who is on the right path of Islam). If they do not find a Chief or the righteous group, they should "Keep away from all those different sects (Ammanis, Salafis, Deobandis, Shias, etc.), even if they had to bite (eat) the root of a tree, till they meet Allah (سبحانہ و تعا لی). Part of Hadith. (Bukhari Book # 56, Hadith # 803 and Muslim Book # 20, Hadith # 4553).
[And whoever opposes the Apostle of Allah ( صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم ) after the path of guidance has become clear to him, and follows the path other than that of the (true) believers, We shall keep him in the same (state of disorientation) he has (himself) turned to, and shall (eventually) cast him into Hellfire and that is an evil dwelling.] (An-Nisa - 115)How do we spread Sahih Iman in the present complex Muslim society?Sulah-e-Kulli/Ammani Groups argue that it is harsh to say on the face of a person that his belief is Kufr. This will create hatred and bloodshed in Muslim society. This is a wrong pretext. Who is asking you to malign and hate the followers of Deviant sects? You can proactively explain Sahih Iman to people in gentle words. However, be firm in your resolve and do not get bogged down by their political deceiptful arguments. Have faith in Allah (سبحانہ و تعا لی) and His Apostle Mohammad (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) and do not be afraid of their worldly might or political sway. When you caution people for their wrongful beliefs, you do not mean to fight with them or spread hatred against them. When you tell them what they proclaim is un-Islamic, contrary to the commandments of Allah (سبحانہ و تعا لی) and his Apostle (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) in gentle words, it will be treated as good counsel, compassionate polemic. If the person heeds towards the good counsel, it is fine. If rejects the faith, it is also fine. Whatever be the reaction, it is important that we show them the right path of Islam because on it depends our salvation. Remember, Ammani / Sulah-e-Kulli beliefs and practices will not help anyone get salvation in Hereafter.Umma tul Islamiyah ( الأمة الإسلامية)Ahle Sunnah wal Jama'a need to understand the concept of Ummah ( أمة ) in its proper perspective. In Islamic world, the term Umma tul Islamiyah ( الأمة الإسلامية) or Millat-e-Islamia is used to describe the community of Muslims belonging to all sects. From an outsider's point of view, followers of all sects are Muslims because of their outward appearance and oral recitation of Kalima Tayyiba. However, the real thing that makes a person Muslim is his Sahih Iman (Correct Islamic Faith). If you do not have Sahih Iman, you have lost both the worlds. Your outward appearance as Muslim and your oral recitation of Kalima Tayyiba will not help you get salvation in Hereafter. Munafiqeen during the time of Prophet Mohammad (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) were also seen as Muslims in view of their outward appearance and oral recitation of Kalima Tayyiba by general people. But look at their reality in the eyes of Allah. It is in Quran - إِنَّ الْمُنَافِقِينَ فِي الدَّرْكِ الأَسْفَلِ مِنَ النَّارِ وَلَن تَجِدَ لَهُمْ نَصِيرًا [The hypocrites will be placed in the lowest pit of Hell, and you will find no one to help them. ] ( An-Nisa - 145).What we currently find is widespread deviancy among Muslim sects from the right path of Islam. Some sects are based on Blasphemy of Prophet Mohammad ( صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم ) and Khulafa-e-Rashideen. Some believe Allah to have a Physical body like human beings. Some have legalized Prostitution in the name of fake marriages. Remember, Allah's mercy in this world and salvation in Hereafter is only available to the type of Umma tul Islamiyah that existed during Prophet's ( صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم ) time. Therefore, deviant sects can neither expect to get Allah's mercy in this world nor salvation in Hereafter unless they come back to the right path of Islam. Read more.
Unity among Muslim Sects
Is there a way to unite all Muslim Sects? When we look at our current complex Muslim society, we realize that there are 73 Sects and innumerable subgroups in Muslim community. This division is based on differences in beliefs as it was already prophesied by Prophet Mohammad ( صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم ). (Abu Dawood, Ibn Majah, Ahmad, Tirmidhi, etc.). Therefore, there cannot be Unity of Aqeedah between these Sects for the simple reason that everyone claims and is adamant that what he/she believes is the right path of Islam.
It is in Quran - مِنَ الَّذِينَ فَرَّقُوا دِينَهُمْ وَكَانُوا شِيَعًا ۖ كُلُّ حِزْبٍ بِمَا لَدَيْهِمْ فَرِحُونَ [Those who have divided their religion and become sects, every faction (sect) rejoicing in what it has (every sect is happy for what he believes and considers it to be the right path of Islam)] (Ar-Room - 32).
Here comes the great responsibility on the shoulders of Ahle Sunnah. While we preach Sahih Iman to our own people and the followers of Deviant Sects, it is also important that we strive to develop trust among people and ensure cooperation of everyone, be it the followers of deviant sects or non-Muslims, in issues related to worldly welfare. Remember, Islam has taught us to care for our neighbor irrespective of his faith and ethnic background. Your good behavior with others will bring them back to Sahih Iman and Allah (سبحانہ و تعا لی) will reward you in this world and in Herafter.
