RELICS OF PROPHET MOHAMMAD (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم), SAHABAH AND AWLIYA ALLAH

Touching and Kissing  the Black Stone
 

The following Ahadith confirm the fact that Prophet Mohammad (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) and Sahaba (رضئ اللھ تعالی عنہم اجمعین ) kissed and touched the black stone (Hajar al-Aswad)  at Ka'abatullah.

(i) It is in Hadith - It was narrated that Ibn ‘Abbas (رضئ اللہ تعالی عنہ) said: The Apostle of Allah (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) said: “The Black Stone came down from Paradise.” (Tirmidhi # 877; Nasaa’i # 2935). The Hadith was classified as Saheeh by Tirmidhi.
 
(ii) It is in Hadith - Narrated by Ibn Umar (رضئ اللہ تعالی عنہ) He said: I heard the Apostle of Allah (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) say: “Touching them both (the Black Stone and al-Rukn al-Yamani) is an expiation for sins.” (Tirmidhi - 959. This Hadith was classified as Hasan by Tirmidhi and as Saheeh by al-Hakim (1/664) and ad-Dhahabi agreed with him).
 
(iii) It is in Hadith -  Narrated by Naafi’ (رضئ اللہ تعالی عنہ) He said : I saw Ibn Umar (رضئ اللہ تعالی عنہ) touch the Stone with his hand then he kissed his hand. He (Ibn Umar - رضئ اللہ تعالی عنہ) said, I have never ceased to do this since I saw the Apostle of Allah (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) do it. (Muslim - 1268).
 
(iv) It is in Hadith -   Narrated by Zaid bin Aslam  (رضئ اللہ تعالی عنہ) from his father who said: "Umar bin Al-Khattab (رضئ اللہ تعالی عنہ) addressed the Corner (Black Stone) saying, 'By Allah (سبحانہ و تعا لی) ! I know that you are a stone and can neither benefit nor harm. Had I not seen the Prophet (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) touching,  I would never have touched (and kissed) you.' Then he kissed it and said, 'There is no reason for us to do Ramal (during circumambulating - Tawaf) except that we wanted to show off before the Pagans, and now Allah (سبحانہ و تعا لی) has destroyed them.' 'Umar (رضئ اللہ تعالی عنہ) added, '(nevertheless), the Prophet (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) did that and we do not want to leave it (i.e. Ramal).'  (Bukhari book #26, Hadith #675).
 
 
Touching and Kissing the Relics of Prophet Mohammad (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم)
 
 
(i) It is in Quran -  وَقَالَ لَهُمْ نَبِيُّهُمْ إِنَّ آيَةَ مُلْكِهِ أَن يَأْتِيَكُمُ التَّابُوتُ فِيهِ سَكِينَةٌ مِّن رَّبِّكُمْ وَبَقِيَّةٌ مِّمَّا تَرَكَ آلُ مُوسَىٰ وَآلُ هَارُونَ تَحْمِلُهُ الْمَلَائِكَةُ ۚ إِنَّ فِي ذَ‌ٰلِكَ لَآيَةً لَّكُمْ إِن كُنتُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ    [ And (further) their Prophet (علیھ السلا م ) said to them: "A Sign of his authority is that there shall come to you the Ark of the covenant, with (an assurance) therein of security from your Lord, and the relics left by the family of Musa (علیھ السلا م) and the family of Haroon (علیھ السلا م), carried by angels. In this is a symbol for you if you indeed have faith."] (Al-Baqara - 248).
 
As per the above Quranic verse, reverence of relics of Prophets is part of Islamic faith.
 
The above verse is related to Bani Israel (Jews).  One of their Prophet (علیھ السلا م) told them that Angels will carry relics of Musa ( علیھ السلا م ) and Haroon ( علیھ السلا م ).  Allah (سبحانہ و تعا لی) describes that these relics are sacred and important for people and a sign of security for them.
 
Wahhabis / Salafis and  like minded groups,  say that the relics of Prophet Mohammad (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) are a source of Shirk and preserving them or kissing them out of reverence is also shirk.  They destroyed all traces of Islam that were preserved by Muslims Ummah for 1300 years. They  even destroyed Prophet Mohammad's (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) house in Makka where he lived 28 years with his family.  One of the rooms in this house was used by Prophet (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) for Salah and Zikr in the nights, where Jibreel ( علیھ السلا م ) used to visit and sit.They destroyed this house and made  a Public Toilet on it.
 
They also destroyed the pious graves of Sahabah, members of Prophet's (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) household and Sahabah and all dignitaries of Islam. We do not know they did with the pious bodies of over 60,000 Sahabah and dignitaries of Islam in Arabian Peninsula.       
 
Other Groups like Deobandis, Tabhlighees, Jamaat-e-Islami, and like minded, support Salafis  in these actions. The deviant groups should not be under the impression that their actions will go unpunished.  
  
It is reported that Salafis attempted to destroy the Green dome and the Graves of Prophet Mohammad (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم), Hadhrat Abu Bakr  (رضئ اللہ تعالی عنہ) and Omer. (رضئ اللہ تعالی عنہ).  Deobandies, Tabhlighees and like minded  groups wholeheartedly supported them in all these destructions.
 
Ahmad bin Ali Basri wrote in ‘Faslul Khitaab fi Rad’di Dalaalati Ibn Abdil Wahab’ as follows :
 
‘From among the things he (Abdul Wahab Najdi) mentioned one thing :  ‘if I attain the opportunity to do so, then I will break down the Rauza of Holy Prophet (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) .’ (Faslul Khitaab fi Rad’di Dalaalati Ibn Abdil Wahab).
 
A pamphlet published in 2007 by the Ministry of Islamic (Wahhabi) Affairs, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, endorsed by Abdulaziz Al Sheikh, the Grand Mufti of Saudi Arabia, and distributed at the Prophet's (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) Mosque,  reads as follows :
 
"The green dome shall be demolished and the three graves flattened in the Prophet's (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) Mosque; according to Alawi, Executive Director of the London based Islamic Heritage Research Foundation. This shocking sentiment was echoed in several speeches by Ibn al-Uthaymeen, one of Saudi Arabia's most prominent Wahhabi clerics, who delivered sermons in Mecca's Grand Mosque for over 35 years.  He said : 'We hope one day we will be able to destroy the green dome of the Prophet Mohammed (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) in a recording provided by Al Alawi. The other sects, like Ahle Hadith, Deobandis, Jama'at-e-Islami, Tabhlighee Jama'at, etc., also say that green dome of Prophet Mohammad (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) should be destroyed."
 
The same Wahhabis acted differently when the Sufi cemetery was razed by Syrian Wahhabis to make way for the University of Damascus and its campus in that city - King Abd al-Aziz Ibn Sa`ud of Saudi Arabia intervened personally to preserve intact the graves and tombs of Ibn Taymiyya and his student Ibn Kathir.

This proves that Wahhabis are the worst enemies of Prophet Mohammad (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) and Islam.  In the guise of purifying Islam, they have attempted to disintegrate and destroy Islam and Muslims from the face of Earth.  
 
(ii) It is in Hadith - Narrates Imam Muslim ( in his Sahih, in the first chapter of the book of clothing) that : Asma' bint Abi Bakr (رضئ اللہ تعالی عنہا) said : "Here is the cloak (Jubba) of Allah's Apostle (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم), (which) was with Ummul Momineen Aisha (رضئ اللہ تعالی عنہا) until she died, then I got possession of it.   The Apostle of Allah (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) used to wear it, and we washed it for the sick so that they could seek cure thereby." (Muslim).
 
Nawawi comments on the above Hadith in Sharh Sahih Muslim  (Book 37 Chapter 2 #10) : "wa fi hadha  al-hadith  dalil `ala istihbab al-tabarruk bi aathaar as-Salihin wa thiyabihim." (In this  Hadith is a proof that it is recommended to seek blessings through the relics of the righteous and their clothes.

(iii) Abdullah ibn Ahmad (the son of Imam Ahmad Ibn Hanbal) said : "I saw my father take a hair that belonged to the Prophet (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم), put it on his mouth, and kiss it. I believe I saw him put it on his eyes. He also dipped it in water and drank the water to obtain cure. I saw him take the Prophet's (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) bowl (qas'a), wash it in water, and drink from it. I saw him drink Zamzam water in order to seek cure with it, and he wiped his hands and face with it." 

It is authentically established that 'Abdullah asked is father about those who touch the pommel (round knob) of the Prophet's (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) pulpit and touch the wall of the Prophet's (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) room, and he said: "I do not see any harm in it." (Ad-Dhahabi, Siyar A'lam al-Nubala' (9 : 457). Chapter on Imam Ahmad, section entitled  Min Adabih).

May Allah protect Muslims from misleading rhetoric of  Khawarij (Salafis, Deobandis and their like minded groups.)

Using of  Quranic verses meant for  Pagans (Mushrikeen-e-Makka) on Prophet Mohammad (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم), Sahabah (رضئ اللھ تعالی عنہم اجمعین ) and Awliya Allah was  started by Khwarij during the time of Khulfa-e-Rashidoon.  Later it was continued by Salafis and their like minded groups.

(iv) It is in Hadith - وكان ‏ ‏ابن عمر ‏ ‏يراهم شرار خلق الله ‏ ‏وقال إنهم انطلقوا إلى آيات نزلت في الكفار فجعلوها على المؤمنين - Ibn Umar (رضئ اللہ تعالی عنہ) considered the Khawarij and the heretics as the worst beings in creation (meaning worst than Satan and his subordinate Shayateen), and he said : 'They went to verses which were revealed about the disbelievers (the pagans of Makka) and applied them to the Believers (Prophets, Sahabah, Awliya Allah and Muslims).  (Bukhari - Chapter Khawarijeen).
