INTRODUCTION

بِسم الله الرحمنِ الرحيم

الحمد لله رب العالمين ، والصلاة والسلام على سيدنا محمد وعلى آله وصحبه أجمعين

In 2004-05 King Abdullah II of Jordan prepared a document called Amman Message.

Many Scholars belonging to different sects among Muslims signed this document to agree to what the King had to say.  This way, King Abdullah II of Jordan became the Imam of  a New Sect among Muslims.  Under Amman Message, two things were agree; (i) All Muslim sects are true Muslims, and (ii) Jews, Christians, Buddhists and anyone who believed in one god, irrespective of his perception was declared a believer, just like Muslims. King Abdullah II of Jordan obtained the signatures   of many  rulers of Muslim majority countries as well as   some famous scholars, belonging to various Muslim sects; like,  Muhammad Tantawy, Ahmed Kuftaro, Yusuf al-Qaradawi, Abdullah bin Bayyah, Taqi Usmani, Ali Hosseini Khamenei, Taher Ul Qadri, Abdullah Al-Harariyy Al-Habashi, Ali Zain Al-Abidin Al-Jifri, Hamza Yusuf Hanson, etc.

Under Amman Interfaith Message, King Abdullah II of Jordan has declared  Christians and Jews as believers on par with Muslims.  Meaning all the three are true believers. The King has also embarked on a dialogue with Christian scholars under his 'Common Word Program' based on Amman Interfaith Message and has become  de facto Khalifa and religious Head of Islam.

We have explained below that Amman Interfaith Message is totally against to the Commandments of Quran and Ahadith.

The Amman Interfaith Message is Parallel to the Amman Islamic Message.

In 2005 King Abdullah II of Jordan  launched the Amman Interfaith Message. The purpose of this message was to declare  Christians and Jews as believers on par with Muslims.

Under Amman Interfaith Message, they claimed that there are three central ideas that are common to Islam, Christianity and Judaism, the three great religions: (i) belief in the Unity of God, (ii) worship and devotion to God, (iii) love and justice towards fellow human beings. The Interfaith Message is based on the misinterpretation of the following Qur’anic injunctions.

[Say: O ye people of the Scripture, come to a common word between us: that we will not worship other than God and not associate anything with Him, and that none of us shall take others for lords besides God.] (Aal-e-Imran - 64).

(ii) It is in Quran - إِنَّمَا الْمُؤْمِنُونَ إِخْوَةٌ فَأَصْلِحُوا بَيْنَ أَخَوَيْكُمْ ۚ وَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ لَعَلَّكُمْ تُرْحَمُونَ  [Truly the believers are brothers. Therefore make peace between your brothers and observe your duty to God that perhaps ye may obtain mercy.] (Al-Hujurat - 10).

Muslims are fooled by the above misinterpretations of the Quranic verses. We have explained below the correct understanding of the above verses.

The verse # 1 above is asking Christians and Jews to come back to the right belief from their current belief of Trinity. Muslims are asking Christians to refrain from their belief in 3 Gods; the Father God, the son of God and the Holy Ghost. The verse specifically describes this fact and clarifies - "That we worship none but Allah (سبحانہ و تعا لی); that we associate no partners with Him; that we erect not, from among ourselves Lords and patrons (like the theory of three Gods) other than Allah".

Thus, the above verse is primarily meant to invite Christians to Islam and asking them to refrain from their belief in three Gods.  The verse further states that "If then they turn back, (then you) say you bear witness that we are Muslims (and they are not believers)".

The verse does not call Christians as believers.  As a matter of fact, it asks Christians and Jews to become believers like Muslims by renouncing their self concocted theories.

As far as the verse # 2 above from Sura al-Hujrat is concerned,  the entire Sura al-Hujurat deals with Muslims.  There is no mention of Ahle Kitab here.  The verse explains that if two Muslims have a conflict of any kind, it is important that we make peace and reconciliations between them. Here Muslims are declared as brothers to each other.

The Amman Interfaith Message misinterpret this verse to make Christians, Jews and Muslims all as brothers in Iman (Astaghfirullah).

It looks, the King and the people who have signed this document have become totally fearless from Allah (سبحانہ و تعا لی).  They should think that there is life after death in which they have to reply for their deeds.  What will happen to them in Hereafter if they mislead innocent Muslims in this fashion, is anybody's guess.

[Indeed those who say : 'Allah is the third of the Trinity' became unbelievers. There is but One God. If they do not desist in what they say, a painful punishment will afflict those of them that disbelieve. ] (Al-Ma'eda - 73)

In the above verse, Christians are clearly regarded as Unbelievers (Mushrikeen) who will enter Hell for painful punishment. There is Ijma (consensus) on the above verse. Thus for all practical purposes, Hindus and Christians are treated on par in the Court of Allah (سبحانہ و تعا لی) and they are treated as Unbelievers.  If they change their faith and believe in the existence of one God, as described in Quran, and they also believe in Prophet Mohammad (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) as the seal of Prophets and obey the Islamic commandments, then they can be treated as "Believers".

It is in Quran -  وَقَالَتِ الْيَهُودُ عُزَيْرٌ ابْنُ اللَّهِ وَقَالَتِ النَّصَارَى الْمَسِيحُ ابْنُ اللَّهِ ۖ ذَ‌ٰلِكَ قَوْلُهُم بِأَفْوَاهِهِمْ ۖ يُضَاهِئُونَ قَوْلَ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا مِن قَبْلُ ۚ قَاتَلَهُمُ اللَّهُ ۚ أَنَّىٰ يُؤْفَكُونَ  [ The Jews call 'Uzair a son of Allah, and the Christians call Christ the son of Allah. That is a saying from their mouth; (in this) they but imitate what the unbelievers of old used to say. Allah's curse be on them: how they are deluded away from the Truth! ] (At-Taubah - 30)

The above Quranic verse says "Allah's curse be on Christians and Jews", then how come King Abdullah calls them believers on par with Muslims?  Definitely this is against the commandments of Quran and Ahadith.

It is in Quran -  قُلْ يَا أَيُّهَا الْكَافِرُونَ - لَا أَعْبُدُ مَا تَعْبُدُونَ - وَلَا أَنتُمْ عَابِدُونَ مَا أَعْبُدُ - وَلَا أَنَا عَابِدٌ مَّا عَبَدتُّمْ - وَلَا أَنتُمْ عَابِدُونَ مَا أَعْبُدُ - لَكُمْ دِينُكُمْ وَلِيَ دِينِ [ Say O'ye that reject (Islamic) Faith,  I worship not that which ye worship. Nor will ye worship that which I worship. And I will not worship that which ye have been want to worship. Nor will ye worship that which I worship. You will be punished for your deeds and I will be rewarded for my deeds.] (Kafiroon 1-6)

Some people say that we should not call people Kafirs, (Unbelievers) because it takes them away from Muslims.  OK, for wisdom purposes we should not tell a person you are a Kafir, or he is Kafir.  We should definitely try to propagate Islam to them by mild words, as far as possible. But, we must have correct faith in our hearts.  If you do not regard them unbelievers by misinterpreting Quranic verses and Ahadith, then you will become Munafeq (hypocrite) in the eyes of Allah (سبحانہ و تعا لی) and His Apostle Mohammad (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم). And we all know, a Munafeq is worse than a Kafir because Munafiqeen will be in the lowest hot part of the Hell.

Good preaching is different issue.  Sahih Aqeedah is a different thing. We cannot mix up both these issues to please the people in power or to earn some money or material favor.

As far as the concept of peaceful and progressive co-existence in the world is concerned, it is  mandatory on all of us to live in peace and harmony.  We should never wish bad for others, we should never try to hurt others, physically or mentally and we should spread the message of love, not only among Muslim sects, but among people of other faiths.

However, for this purpose, we need not go against Quran and Sunnah and try to declare all Muslim sects, including Christians and Jews as  believers.  Amman Messages (declarations) are against the commandments of Quran and Ahadith. These are misleading and dangerous. These will have catastrophic effects on Muslim youth and Islam faith.

We can always say to our brothers and sisters who are Jews, Christians or from any religious group in the world, in a mild way, that even though we disagree with them in basic faith,  we definitely would like to live in peace and harmony with them.  There is nothing wrong in it. Islam is the only religion which has taught the world what is religious tolerance and how it is practiced. If it was not like that, probably 90% of the world population would have been Muslim today.

Muslims never did ethnic cleansing as Christians did in Spain (Millions of Muslims); Bosnia (Millions of Muslims); Iraq & Afghanistan (Millions of Muslims); Hiroshima & Nagasaki (millions of Budhists); Australia (20 million aborigines); North America (100 million Indians); South America (50 million Indians); Africa (180 million African slaves).  It is also claimed by Jews that over 6 million Jews were killed by Christians during second world war.  The list is very long.

Jews have killed millions of Palestinians continuously in the past 70 years.  Similarly, Salafis / Wahhabis occupied Arabian Peninsula and wiped out its entire Muslim population by killing millions with the help of British in 1920s.  They have the distinction of digging and destroying even the graves of hundreds of thousands of Companions of Prophet Mohammad (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) and important dignitaries of Islam; a rare distinction associated only with Salafis in the entire history of mankind.  The title  SALAFI  is applied to those who worship a Planetary human-like-Idol and call it Allah.

Misinterpretation of Ahadith

The people behind Amman Message have allowed Christians and Jews to come to Muslim mosques and do worship as per their religious beliefs.  They want to convert all mosques into Churches to facilitate Christian worship. Or Muslim mosques will become a common place of worship for all religious denominations.  As is propagated by Taher Ul Qadri, a Pakistani scholar. They  misinterpret a Prophet's (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) Hadith in which some Christians were allowed in Prophet's (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) mosque in Madina who also prayed in the mosque.

Let us briefly discuss this Hadith to know facts.

It is in Hadith - A Christian Najran delegation came to Medina at the time of the afternoon prayer and entered the Masjid-e-Nabawai (saws), arriving when Prophet (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) and sahabah were still performing the afternoon prayer, the Christians turned to the East and prepared to worship. Some companions, (after the Salah) wished to prevent them worshiping, (but) the Prophet (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) commanded that they be left alone and permitted to worship.

[Tabarî, Ibn Kathir, Razî, Qurtubî; Surah Al‘Imran, 3/1-61; Part of these commentaries dealt with the beginning of the Surah, and some with the 61st verse, known as the Mubahala verse).

Let us discuss some important points of the above Hadith:

(i) When the delegation arrived, Prophet (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) was busy in Asr prayers.

(ii) The Christians entered the Prophet's (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) mosque without taking any prior permission, turned to the East and prepared to worship while Sahabah were busy in Asr prayers. Some companions, after the completion of Asr prayers, wished to stop Christians from prayers.  But the Prophet (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) commanded 'they be left alone' and allowed them to finish their prayers.

(iii) It is obvious that the Prophet’s (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) primary aim was to invite these Christians to Islam.

(iv) Later, the Negotiations were continued for three days, while the Prophet (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) gave them time to know the facts of Islam by their own eyes remaining in the mosque and observing Muslim prayers.

(v) what happened between the Prophet (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) and this delegation during these three days?

Najran was a big area of land at a distance of seven trip stages southwards of Makkah towards Yemen. It included seventy three villages. It took a fast-rider, one day ride, to get there. (Fath Al-Bari 8 / 94).  Its military forces consisted of a hundred thousand fighters.

The delegation's arrival was in the year 9 Hijri. It was comprised of sixty men. Twenty-four of them were from noble families. Three out of twenty-four were, at one time, leaders of Najran.

(a) Al-‘Aqib,  who was in charge of prince-hood and government affairs. His name was ‘Abdul Maseeh.

(b) As-Saiyid (the Master) under whose supervision were the educational and political affairs; his name was Al-Aiham or Sharhabeel.

(c) Abu Haritha bin ‘Alqamah was the third. He was bishop to whom all religious presidency and spiritual leadership belonged and were in  his charge.

The delegates met the Prophet (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم)  and exchanged inquiries with him; but when he invited them to Islam and recited the Quran to them, they refused.

Look here, the primary purpose of the Prophet (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) was to invite them to Islam.  He never declared that the mosque is a common place where Muslims and Christians can pray on a permanent bases - as has been interpreted by Amman Interfaith Declaration.  Also Prophet - صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم  is not treating them as believers on par with Muslims. He is emphasizing them to come back to Sahih Aqeedah.

The Christian delegation asked the Prophet (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) what he thought about ‘Isa (Jesus), (عليه السلام).  The Prophet (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) delayed the answer the whole day till the following Quranic versus were revealed to him.

It is in Quran - إِنَّ مَثَلَ عِيسَىٰ عِندَ اللَّهِ كَمَثَلِ آدَمَ ۖ خَلَقَهُ مِن تُرَابٍ ثُمَّ قَالَ لَهُ كُن فَيَكُونُ [ Verily, the likeness of Jesus before Allah is the likeness of Adam. He created him from dust, then (He) said to him: ‘Be!’ — and he was.]

الْحَقُّ مِن رَّبِّكَ فَلَا تَكُن مِّنَ الْمُمْتَرِينَ  [ (This is) the truth from your Lord, so be not of those who doubt.]

[Then whoever disputes with you concerning him (Jesus) after (all this) knowledge that has come to you, (i.e. Jesus being a servant of Allâh, and having no share in Divinity) say: (O'Muhammad -  صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) ‘Come, let us call our sons and your sons, our women and your women, ourselves and yourselves — then we pray and invoke (sincerely) the Curse of Allah upon those who lie.]

(Aal-e-Imran - 59 - 61).

When it was morning, the Apostle of Allah (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) told them what ‘Isa (عليه السلام) was in the light of the above revealed verses.

He left them a whole day to consult and think it over. So when it was next morning and they still showed disapproval to admit Allah’s Words about ‘Isa (عليه السلام) or to embrace Islam, the Prophet (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) suggested Al-Mubahala, that is,  each party should supplicate and implore Allah (سبحانہ و تعا لی) to send His Curse upon him or them if they were telling lies.

After that, the Prophet (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) came forward wrapping Al-Hasan (رضئ اللہ تعالی عنہ) and Al-Husain (رضئ اللہ تعالی عنہ) under his garment whereas Fatimah (رضئ اللہ تعالی عنہا) was walking at his back. Seeing that the Prophet (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) was serious and prepared to face them firmly, they went aside and started consulting.

Al-‘Aqib and As-Saiyid (the Master) said to each other: "We shall not supplicate. For, I swear by Allah, if he is really a Prophet and exchanges curses with us, we will never prosper nor will the descendants of ours. Consequently neither us nor our animals will survive it."

Finally they made their mind to resort to the Apostle of Allah’s (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) judgement about their cause. They came to him and said: "We agree with you what you have demanded." The Apostle of Allah (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) then formalized the agreement and ordered them to pay Al-Jizya (tribute) and he made peace with them for the provision of two thousand garments, one thousand of them to be delivered in Rajab, the other thousand ones in Safar. With every garment they had to pay an ounce (of gold). In return they will have the covenant of Allah (سبحانہ و تعا لی) and His Messenger (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم). He gave them freedom to live peacefully in their land.

They asked the Prophet  (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) to appoint a trustworthy man to receive the money agreed upon for peace, so he sent them the trustworthy man of the nation Abu ‘Ubaidah bin Al-Jarrah (رضئ اللہ تعالی عنہ) to receive the amounts of money agreed on in the peace treaty.

(vi) The above details clearly show that the Prophet (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) did not approve the Christians as believers on par with Muslims (as Ammani scholars are claiming). Also it is most likely that the delegation was allowed to stay in the mosque as, till then, there was no provision made, no special building was constructed, to house the large delegations.

In addition, the Prophet (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) insisted them to accept Islam as per the commandments of Allah (سبحانہ و تعا لی). This is different from what the propagators of Amman Message are doing. They are mixing up religions by misinterpreting this Hadith.

Also, there is no single occasion during or after Prophet Mohammad (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) when Muslims were allowed to participate in Non-Muslims' religious festivals and their worship as Ammanis are doing in the name of Interfaith.

When Najran delegation refused to accept Islam, Prophet (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) invited them for Mubahala. They were scared to enter into Mubahala, therefore they conceded for an agreement with the Prophet (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) to remain as Islam's protectorate on payment of a nominal amount.

Soon Islam started spreading in Najran, and those who accepted Islam, did not have to pay Al-Jizya that usually non-Muslims paid. It was reported that Al-Aqib and As-Saiyid embraced Islam as soon as they reached Najran on their journey back home. It is also said that the Prophet (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) sent to them ‘Ali (رضئ اللہ تعالی عنہ) too, for the collection of charities and tribute. (Fath Al-Bari 8 / 94, 95;  Za'd Al-Ma'ad 3 / 38 - 40)

(vii) The story of  Najran people is not complete unless a later episode is mentioned here; when the Prophet (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) sent Khalid ibn al-Walid (رضئ اللہ تعالی عنہ), to the tribe of Al-Harith ibn Ka’b, of Najran. The Prophet (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) ordered Khalid (رضئ اللہ تعالی عنہ) to call on those people to accept Islam and to give them a period of three days to make up their minds. If they accepted Islam, Khalid (رضئ اللہ تعالی عنہ) was to accept that from them. If they refused, he would fight with them. When Khalid (رضئ اللہ تعالی عنہ) arrived there, he sent his emissaries all over the place, calling on the people to accept Islam. They accepted Islam without any hesitation and it looked they were waiting for someone to encourage them,  as by then, they were convinced about the truth of Islam.

Khalid (رضئ اللہ تعالی عنہ) stayed there for some time to teach the people  Islamic living. He wrote to the Prophet (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) about the results of his mission, and the Prophet (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) wrote back asking him to return to Madinah  bringing a delegation from that tribe. When they arrived in Madinah and spoke to the Prophet (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم), he asked them: “How did you achieve your victories in pre-Islamic days?” They said: “We used to stick together and allow nothing to divide us into groups. We also never started any injustice.” Prophet (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) said: “You are telling the truth.”

(viii) The above details clearly establish Islamic facts.  It is also abundantly clear that  the above Hadith is misquoted and misinterpreted by Taher Ul Qadri and other scholars who have signed Amman Message to fool innocent Muslims all over the world.

King Abdullah II  has done all his homework, before being declared  as Khalifa-e-Islam by Nazim Al-Haqqani.

THE AFTER AFFECTS OF ACCEPTING THE AMMAN INTERFAITH MESSAGE

Taher Ul Qadri, Head of Minhajul Quran organization, is a signatory to the Amman Message.  His followers are known as Minhajis.  He has allowed his Minhaji followers to visit Hindu Temples, Gurduwaras and Churches to participate in various religious Festivals, like Holi, Chrismas, etc.  He has also allowed members of other religions to visit Muslim mosques and worship their Gods as per their religious beliefs.  Watch the following video clip.

Minhaj officials celebrating Holi in a Hindu Temple

Taher Ul Qadri claims that Minhajis can attend cultural festivals of non Muslims, not religious festivals.  But on the official Minhaj Website it is written that Holi is a religious festival of Hindus.  Read the following which is taken from Minhaj official website.

"The Hindu religious festival of ‘Holi’ was celebrated across the world on April 20, 2009. A special ceremony took place in a local temple in Lahore to celebrate the occasion. On the special invitation of the Hindu community leaders Dr Manuher Chand, Dr Suresh, Dr Suneil Kumar and Prof Ashok Kumar, Minhaj  participated in the celebrations. Sohail Ahmad Raza, Director of  interfaith Directorate, Minhaj,  led the delegation.  Expressing his views at the occasion, Sohail Ahmad Raza felicitated the Hindu community on the auspicious festival".  Read more from Minhaj website

Usman Shah of Minhaj Youth and his delegation  attended Neville Road Gurdwara in East Ham, UK on March 30th, 2009.  All Minhajis covered their heads and stood alongside Sikhs in the main prayer hall of the Gurdwara during Sikh worship.  We do not understand how come attending the prayers of Gurdwaras by Minhajis by covering their heads during the Sikh prayers is a cultural event?   Read more from Minhaj website

Taher Ul Qadri, along with his Minhaji followers is celebrating Merry Chrismas along with Christian Scholars.

Minhajis celebrating Milad un Nabi (saws) in a Hindu Temple.

Look at the above picture.  At one side “Om” is written in Hindi, and the other side Green Dome of Prophet Mohammad (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) is drawn.  And and Hindu priest is standing in a Hindu worship pose while Minhajis are sitting around.  Ask any Ahle Sunnah scholar, he will issue a Fatwa-e-Kufr on this gathering.  Also,  anyone can draw the message from such picture - what Minhajis are trying to do.  They are establishing the authencities of Hinduism, along with Islam and trying to mix all religions (Islam, Christinity, Hinduism, etc.) openly.  It looks, Minhaj is fast developing into a new religion wherein its followers will involve in all religions’ festivals and will freely worship their Gods in mosques, temples, churches and Gurdwaras.

Show the above pictures to any Ahle Sunnah Mufti in the world, he may sure issue Fatawa-e-Kufr on these Minhaj practices.

In Gujarat, India, in March 2012, Taher Ul Qadri disclosed that he reads Bhagavad Gita at home daily.  He also read a few lines of Bhagvad Gita in front of the gathering and praised the teaching in this Holy book.

In Wimbly Peace Conference hosted by Tarher Ul Qadri in 2011, he  praised Hindu God  Krishna for his  love towards  humanity.  He  also praised Gautam Budhdha for his awakening which will benefit the world.  He declared that  Jesus Christ is the savior of Humanity, which is a Christian belief.

Also look at the following video, Taher Ul Qadri openly says that his followers have been instructed to visit temples, Churches, Gurduwaras to participate in religious Ceremonies there.  And people from all religions, Christians, Hindus, etc., are allowed, in the Central mosque and all other mosques belonging to Minhaj, to worship as per their religious customs.  Watch the following video clip.

It is important to mention here that we have nothing against the Royal family of Jordan.  We wish them many more generations' rule over Jordon to serve their people. We wish all, everyone in the world, good luck and a long fruitful years in the world.

We also have nothing against Taher Ul Qadri or other scholars who have signed the Amman Message (Declaration).

In this book, we have tried to bring facts in front of people so that they see the truth, correct themselves and remain on the straight path of Islam.

It is in Quran  - وَمَا عَلَيْنَا إِلَّا الْبَلَاغُ الْمُبِينُ  [And our duty is only to proclaim the clear message."] (Ya seen - 17)
