We have quoted the sources of information all through this Article. We hope that the information in this article will help our readers to have a clear understanding of the Khan's beliefs and practices.
The Article is written with a good intention to educate Muslims about Sahih Iman. We sincerely regret if any of the facts in this article caused unintended discomfort to anyone in the world.
Born in Azamgarh (U.P.) in 1925, the Maulana was educated in a traditional seminary. From his early years, he showed a voracious appetite for modern knowledge, spending entire days in the library. As a result he became well versed in both classical Islamic learning and modern disciplines. His extensive research led him to conclude that the need of the hour was to present Islamic teachings in the style and language of the post-scientific era. - See more at: http://www.alrisala.org/maulana-wahiduddin-khan/#sthash.zMsn59tq.dpuf
(1) BRIEF BIOGRAPHY
Khan became a Gandhian, a staunch follower of Mahatma Gandhi in his youth. He still considers himself to be a Gandhian.
Khan is famous for his writings; particularly about peace between different sections of society. His video lectures are shown on some TV Channels, like ETV Urdu and others. He has received Demiurgus Peace International Award; Padma Bhushan award, Rajiv Gandhi National Sadbhavana Award and National Citizen’s Award.
Khan has established an Organization named 'Centre for Peace and Spirituality (www.cpsglobal.org) in New Delhi, India in 1970. He launched an Urdu Monthly Journal Al-Risala (www.alrisala.org) in 1976. English and Hindi versions of Al-Risala were launched in 1984 and 1990 respectively. The English version is published under title "Spiritual Message". Khan also set up "Centre for Peace and Spirituality International" in 2001 under which his followers in other countries are taught about his new concepts in Islam.
It is emphasized on his websites that Khan acquired knowledge through self study of books in a local library in Azamgarh during 1946-53. This was the time he developed a new ideology about Islam.
It is written on his official website as follows:
QUOTE - Once someone asked Wahiduddin Khan, after you, who? He replied, only one person is required to develop a (new) ideology. Once this task is completed, the message will be spread through a dedicated team of people with the use of various modern means of communications available in this age. UNQUOTE - Read more...
Once someone asked Maulana Wahiduddin Khan, “After you, who? There is only the ‘one’ Wahiduddin.”
He replied: "Only one person is required to develop the ideology. Once this task has been completed, the message will continue to be spread through a dedicated team of individuals with the use of various modern means of communication available in this age."- See more at: http://www.cpsglobal.org/ambassadors#sthash.1KQuUQGR.dpuf
In essence, Khan is a self read and self trained scholar who propagates a new ideology about Islam acquired by his self study of books. Like Dr. Zakir Naik, Khan also did not study Islam under any scholar or Shaikh of Islam.
(2) WAHIDUDDIN KHAN'S BELIEFS
When Wahhabism arrived in India in 19th Century, some people were influenced by its teachings. Some converted fully into Wahhabism/Salafism and started calling themselves 'Ahl-e-Hadith'. Some formed a new Deobandi sect which is very close to Wahhabis/Salafis in their basic beliefs. Oil rich Saudi monarchy spent lavishly to spread Wahhabism/Salafism in Indian Sub Continent. It was also in British Government's interest to divide Muslims into different groups to strengthen their grip over India. All these factors were responsible for the birth and growth of the famous Deobandi Sect in India.
Darul Uloom Deoband was established in 1865. The people who established Darul Uloom Deoband and who studied at this Wahhabi influenced institution, later got divided into many sub sects/groups, like (1) Tablighee Jamaat, (2) Jamaat e Islami, (3) Nadwatul Ulema, (4) Jamiat e Ulema e Islam, (5) Tanzeem e Islami, (6) Ansar us Sunnah, (7) Tehreek e Taliban, (8) Jamat ud Dawa, (9) Lashkar e Tayyiba, (10) Tameer e Millat, (11) Hussamis (followers of Hussamuddin Aqil), (12) Jamaat ul Muslimeen, (13) Sipah e Sahabah, (14) Lashkar e Jhangvi, (15) Harkat e Inqilab, (16) Jaish al Islam, (17) Jaish ul Ummah, (18) Student Islamic Movement of India (SIMI), (19) Jamiat ul Hikma, (20) Harkat ul Mijahideen, (21) Jamiat ul Ulema e Hind, etc. etc.
In February 2014, Saudi Minister of Islamic Affairs, Endowments, Call and Guidance, Sheikh Saleh bin Abdul-Aziz Al ash-Sheikh (descendant of Ibn Abdul Wahab) paid a visit to Darul Uloom Deoband.
Sheikh Saleh described Darul Uloom Deoband as 'Citadel' of (Salafi / Wahhabi) Islam. Read more..
Sheikh Saleh said it is the policy of Saudi Government to make visits to those Seminaries (Madaaris) which have been engaged in imparting (Salafi) Islamic teachings. The Minister said, Darul Uloom Deoband is one of the important and the biggest (Salafi) Islamic Institution in Asia. Welcoming the Saudi delegation, Darul Uloom Deoband Chief Mufti Abul Qasim Nomani sang the praises of King Abdullah for his ‘contribution’ to the propagation of (Salafi) Islam. He also praised Maulana Arshad Madni who heads one of the factions of the Jamiat-e-Ulama Hind. Read more...
Earlier, in July 2013, a large delegation of Darul Uloom Deoband headed by Mufti Abul Qasim Nomani, Mohtamim of Darul Uloom paid an official visit to Riyadh on the invitation of Royal Saudi Family. During the meeting with the Darul Uloom delegation, Sheikh Saleh bin Abdul-Aziz Al ash-Sheikh said that Darul Uloom Deoband is one of the important and the biggest Islamic Institute of the Asia, which is rendering its services to (Wahhabi) Islam. Sheikh Saleh bin Abdul-Aziz Al ash-Sheikh praised Deobandi Ulema, the founders of Deobandi sect in India, and reiterated that the Deobandi Institution is keeping the teachings of (Wahhabi) Islam alive in the world for the past 150 years. Watch the following video clip in which Tariq Jameel, the Head of Tabhlighee Jamaat is praising Saudi Salafis. He called Salafi scholar Sudais as Imam of Arabs and Non-Arabs, both (Imam ul Arab wal Ajam).
Watch the following video clips in which Dr. Israr Ahmed, the founder of Tanzeem-e-Islami Group gives clarification that all the above mentioned Wahhabi/Ahle Hadith influenced Deobandi groups are one and the same.
Wahiduddin Khan is a product of Islahi School, which was established by the founders of Jamat-e-Islami. It is reported that in his youth, Khan was associated with Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, but left them on some ideological differences. He was briefly associated with Tabhlighee Jamaat, but left them also in view of differences of opinions. Same was the case with Dr. Israr Ahmed, who separated from Jamat-e-Islami Pakistan and Tabhlighee Jamaat and formed a new Group, Tanzeem-e-Islami.
Wahiduddin Khan is known for his apologist rhetoric. Some people say that Khan is a pacifist. He condemns Jihad in all its formats and claims that Jihad is only limited to self purification.
Self purification is indeed a Jihad, a major one, but it is also necessary that some times you are forced to raise your voice against the oppressors in human society. If people had not stood against the tyrant Kings and created a revolution in France during 1789-99, that profoundly affected French and modern history of the world, marking the decline of powerful tyrant monarchies and the rise of democracy, we would not have seen the development of democratic system prevailing in the world today.
Jihad is sometimes necessary to bring back peace in the land. Muslim Ulema have explained the fiqh of Jihad in greater detail for the past 1400 years, proving that Islam is the most peaceful religion. History is witness that Muslims allowed non-Muslims to practice their religion freely in Islamic countries. Muslim rulers gave Non-Muslims equal rights within Islamic judicial system.
Islam is against a Jihad that creates chaos, mayhem and dissensions in the land. Islam does not allow the kind of anarchy and destruction currently carried out by Zionists' controlled nations in the world, in countries like Iraq, Libya, Afghanistan, Syria, etc. Islam is against spreading of hatred between people. Islam does not allow the kind of terror perpetrated by Safaron extremists in India and Taliban terrorists in our neighboring countries.
The problem with Khan is, he shuts his mouth against the destruction of Muslim countries and Muslim populations carried out by states sponsored terror, in collaboration with selfish politicians / organizations who are involved in vote bank politics. But he acts like a spokesperson for the terror outfits. It is observed that Khan is in the forefront in blaming Muslims for their plight. And he claims that he is a reformer of Muslims. Read more
The kind of work Khan is doing is strange. At one hand he blames Muslims for their plight in the world, and on the other, he is pushing Muslims to abandon Prophet Mohammad's (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) path and adopt the model of conduct of Jesus Christ (Isa - علیھ السلا م ). In essence he is destroying Islam and Muslims both.
Creating peace and amity between people of all faiths and different ethnic backgrounds is a good thing. It is important that everyone in the world adheres to the principles of peace and progress in human society. However, to achieve this objective you do not have to develop a new thinking, a new ideology in an established religion. Khan has attempted to hit and destroy the base on which the entire structure of Islam is built. He has shunned all Islamic scholars of the past 1400 years and claims that their understanding of Islam was wrong. What they developed was a medieval culture in Islam. Most importantly, he claims that Prophet Mohammad's (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) model of conduct is also not applicable now. Allahu Akbar.
It is in Quran - لَّقَدْ كَانَ لَكُمْ فِي رَسُولِ اللَّهِ أُسْوَةٌ حَسَنَةٌ لِّمَن كَانَ يَرْجُو اللَّهَ وَالْيَوْمَ الْآخِرَ وَذَكَرَ اللَّهَ كَثِيرًا ( Meaning - Indeed in the Apostle of Allah (Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) you have an excellent example to follow, for him who hopes for (the Meeting with) Allah and the Last Day, and remembers Allah much. (Ahzab - 21)
It is consensus of all Ulema for the past 1400 years that Allah (سبحانہ و تعا لی) has presented the life of Apostle Mohammad (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) as an absolute model for Humanity to follow till the day of resurrection. Allah commands that Muslims should follow the life of Prophet Mohammad (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) as a model in every affair of their lives and mould their character and personality accordingly. Muslims should always follow the foot steps of Prophet Mohammad All Sahabah, Imams, Scholars and Shuyooks of Islam agree on this understanding. And this forms the basis of Islamic faith.
(3) HOW WAHIDUDDIN KHAN DEVIATED FROM ISLAM
It is mentioned on his official website that "after coming out of Madrasa at the age of 19, Khan started interacting with people to begin his life – considering his education was complete. During some of these interactions, he was shocked to realize that he was unable to respond to questions put to him by others."
To find answers to the questions posed by people, he should have sat for a few years under the able guidance of a well known scholar or Shaikh of Ihsan to learn Islam. No one can become a medical doctor or an engineer by reading books. He needs to join a University and learn under the able guidance of University Professors who are well versed in subjects. But Khan was a rebel, he thought he can learn things independently by reading books.
According to some unconfirmed reports, experienced men of his time, in his home and outside, counseled him that he has just finished school, it was important that he learns Islam under an able scholar for a few more years. Khan refused and started reading books and spent long hours in a local library. He studied every available book in the library, including Bible, Vedas and other scriptures. He was a young man, 19 years of age. He needed guidance from experience teachers. But Alas, he thought he could learn complicated issues by just reading books. And this was the time when he developed his new ideologies.
Upon completion of his self study, Khan wrote his first book in Urdu in 1954 which was published in early 1955. The book was titled - نۓ عہد کے دروازے پر - 'Naye Ahad Ke Darwaze Par' - (On the Threshold of New Era). He elaborated upon this concept in his next book in Urdu titled - علم جديد کا چيلنج - 'Ilme Jadid ka challenge' (The Challenge of his newly acquired knowledge through self study). This book was published again under title "God Arises".
Why this book was re-titled as "God Arises"?
When we tried to find answers to this question, we found the reference in the Bible [Psalm 68 (1-8)] - "Let God Arise - The Earth shook at the presence of God, the God of Israel". (Kings James Version).
It is clear that, through his writings, Khan was telling Muslims that it is a new Era, and the time of Prophet Mohammad (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) was effectively over. Now Muslims are in the time of Jesus Christ (Isa - علیھ السلا م ) and they should follow his (Isa - علیھ السلا م ) Model of conduct.
This was the dawn of a new deviant "WAHEEDI" (وحیدی ) Sect founded by Wahiduddin Khan. The followers of Wahiduddin Khan will be known in Islamic History as "WAHEEDIS".
WAHEEDIS are different from other deviant sects in Muslims. They are similar to 'QADIYANIS' who are considered as non-Muslims for their un-Islamic beliefs.
Khan's book "God Arises" is reported to have been incorporated in the curricula of universities in several Arab countries. It was translated into many languages, such as English, Arabic, Malay, Turkish, Hindi, Malayalam and Sindhi. Its Arabic version has been published under the title of "Al-Islam Yatahadda".
Khan has since authored over 200 books developing and explaining the concept of his new Waheedi sect.
He wrote a detailed article urging Muslims to forget about Prophet Mohammad's (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) model (Sunnah) and start following Jesus Christ (Isa - علیھ السلا م ) model.
In his 'Al-Risala' ( الرسالہ ) Journal he wrote an Article titled - مسيح ماڈل کی آمدِ ثانی - 'Masih Model ki Aamad-e-Thani' in June 2007 issue, and declared that "the model of conduct of Prophet Mohammad (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) is no longer applicable to Muslims and that Muslims need to adopt the model of conduct of Jesus Christ (Isa - علیھ السلا م ) ."
To make his point more clear, he wrote another article, titled - دین اور منھاج - 'Deen aur Minhaj' in October 2007 in the same Journal and declared that : Prophet Mohammad (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) should not be considered as “final model” with regards to his Minhaj (sunnah). His finality is only limited to Prophet hood with regard to the religion.
Both these articles were available on Wahiduddin's Website (www.alrisala.org) on these locations (Link 1) and (Link 2) earlier. However, they have removed these articles for reasons best known to them.
Khan has advised his followers to abandon the teachings and model of conduct of Prophet Mohammed (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) but claimed that he accepts Prophet Mohammad (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) as the final Prophet. This is an intelligent move to confuse and mislead Muslims.
Khan has attempted to separate the inseparable aspects of Prophet Mohammad How can you separate the attributes (Sifaat) of Prophet Mohammad (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) from his person (Zaat). Prophets are teachers of humanity. They are living examples for people to follow. Since Prophet Mohammad (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) is the final (last) Prophet for humanity, his attributes and his teachings are also final for humanity. It cannot be that the Prophet (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) comes as a seal of prophet hood, and his attributes and his teachings are incomplete (defective), not suitable for certain times ( ma'azallah ) as foolishly claimed by Khan.
Khan and his Waheedi followers have abandoned the teachings and model of conduct of Prophet Mohammad (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) and have embraced the model of conduct of Jesus Christ.
The question is, what is the model of conduct of Jesus Christ (Isa - علیھ السلا م )? We, the Muslims believe that, though Jesus (Isa - علیھ السلا م ) is the Prophet of Allah, his second coming is to establish the truthfulness of Islam in front of the whole world (particularly Christians and Jews). He will follow Shariat-e-Mohammadi (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) and will lead Muslims in prayers as per the teachings of Prophet Mohammad (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم). So where is the difference? Jesus Christ (Isa - علیھ السلا م ) is following the model of conduct of Prophet Mohammad (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) in toto.
Khan makes his followers believe that Jesus Christ (Isa - علیھ السلا م ) will not descend physically. He says, what will happen is his model of conduct will become applicable in the end times.
What is the model of conduct of Jesus Christ (Isa -
Khan makes his followers look at him (Khan) to see the model of conduct of Jesus Christ (Isa - علیھ السلا م ). And what is he portraying? He is portraying the model of conduct of Jesus Christ (Isa - علیھ السلا م ) as described in the 'Old Testament' (which has been changed by Jews).
Khan should know that religion of all Prophets is based on Anti-Violence. Israelis under Moses (Musa - علیھ السلا م ) were commanded to enter Kanan by fighting with the incumbent oppressive rulers who terrorized their people. When they refused to fight, Israelis were thrown into wilderness for 40 long years. (Quran - Sura Al-Maeda, verses 20-26)
Khan claims he is Gandhian, a staunch follower of Gandhi. If it is true, then he should learn at least from the attributes and teachings of Gandhiji.
We remind Khan about what Gandhiji said about Prophet Mohammad
Gandhiji wrote in 'Young India (periodical), 1928, Volume X, as follows:
QUOTE - I wanted to know the best of the life of one who holds today an undisputed sway over the hearts of millions of mankind… I became more than ever convinced that it was not the sword that won a place for Islam in those days in the scheme of life. It was the rigid simplicity, the utter self-effacement of the Prophet (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) the scrupulous regard for pledges, his intense devotion to his friends and followers, his intrepidity, his fearlessness and his absolute trust in God. UNQUOTE
Read more what non-Muslims say about Prophet Mohammad (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) on this link.
If Khan is a real follower of Gandhiji, then he should follow Gandhiji's advice about Prophet Mohammad Gandhiji says that the teachings of Prophet Mohammad (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) are absolutely non-violent, and an example for human beings to follow.
Gandhiji and his followers stood in front of bullets many a times and gave their lives. Gandhiji's non violence was defensive in nature. And what was his defense? His defense was Indian masses. He gathered masses in front of the tyrant army to scare them away. And he succeeded in his mission after a long struggle. Gandhiji taught bravery, he did not teach cowardice and surrender to tyrant British rulers. What Khan preaches to Muslims is surrender to Extremists Organizations and to bow down in front of their unlawful demands. He is leading them to live like Palestinians under Israeli occupation forces.
There is difference between non-Violence and Anti-violence. All religions teach anti violence. Islam's teachings are Anti-violence. The Prophet (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) taught us Anti Violence. Violence is offensive in nature and anti-violence is defensive in nature. You need to learn and prepare yourself to defend yourself, your family, your town and your country against the offensive violence of enemies. Why Indian Muslims and Hindus join Indian Army and police? Because they believe in Anti-Violence. They prepare themselves to defend their motherland against the violent attacks from within the country (terrorist and extremists) and outside the country ( enemy nations ).
What is Muslims' defense against the atrocities committed by Zionists and Safaron/Salafi terrorists in the world. Our defense is to grow awareness among masses, among the people of the world, and expose extremists/ultras designs. Muslims should be courageous, should not fear and bow down in front of Ultras. Muslims should unite for the sake of their security and progress in the world. They should identify selfish politicians and so called misleading scholars within Muslim community and refrain them from damaging the community. The Ultras and selfish politicians are friend to no one. By creating terror in the world, they are dividing populations on religious lines to strengthen their vote banks. We should gather masses who believe in peace in society, both from Muslims and Non-Muslims communities and demonstrate to the terrorists that they are in minority. We should target media to convey our message of brotherhood among people. If mainstream media is bought and controlled by the terrorists, which is normally the case, we should use social media, word of mouth, local gatherings, TV and print media and educate masses about the benefits of sanity in society. We should support right candidates so that they get elected to countries' parliaments. This will sure help in our cause to fight terrorists' menace effectively.
Khan misleads Muslims by misinterpreting Quranic verses and Ahadith. He argues that the verse wherein Allah (سبحانہ و تعا لی) praises the noble character of Prophet Mohammad (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) in Quran (Sura Ahzab - Verse 21) by referring to him as having “Uswah Hasanah (أُسْوَةٌ حَسَنَةٌ)” (excellent model), is actually a proof that his model is not perfect (kaamil). Astaghfirullah. He claims that 'for one to think of him (Prophet Mohammad - صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) possessing a model that is “kaamil” (complete/perfect) is undoubtedly an incorrect belief." Khan is attempting to change the meanings of Quran. Astaghfirullah.
Read below excerpts from Khan's writings - (al-Risala Journal, June 2007 Edition) :
Agar is mawqa` par Qur'an main "uswah kaamilah" ka lafz ist`imal kiya jaa taa to loag ghalat fahmi mai pardsaktey thei... Aisa samajhna bilaa shubha aik ghalat famhmi hoti.
(On this occasion if Allah (سبحانہ و تعا لی) had used the word absolute/complete model (Uswa-e-Kamila) for Prophet Mohammad (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) , then people would have misunderstood its meaning. And to consider the model of Mohammad (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) as complete/absolute is surely a misunderstanding on the part of Muslims.)
Aap her Surat-e-Hall key liye aakhiri namoona na thei ... Chunache aap key liye 'uswah hasanah' ka lafz aaya hai, na ke 'uswah kaamilah
(The Prophet (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) was not the ultimate example for every occasion in the lives of people. This is the reason Allah (سبحانہ و تعا لی) used the word 'exceptional/beautiful model. And He has not used the word 'Complete/Absolute model.
Payghambar ka final model hona mumkin nahi
(For Prophet Mohammad (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) to be the final model is an impossibility)
(4) WAHIDUDDIN KHAN'S JEWISH BELIEFS
Wahiduddin Khan and his son Saniyasnian Khan with Israeli Prime Minister Shemon Peres, presenting his books and probably explaining about his concept of Messianic Age (عصر المسيح) in which the God has blessed the people of Israel.
In August 1995, Khan was invited to a gathering in Jerusalem, Palestine, organized by St. Egidio Community of Rome on the theme of "Together in Jerusalem: Jews, Christians and Muslims". Khan read a paper in that meeting and persuaded and urged Palestinians to handover the sovereignty of Jerusalem to Israel. He cited some examples from History and urged local Palestinians to handover the city to Israel.
Khan with his family in Tel Aviv, Israel. Fareeda Khanam, daughter at the right side. Saniyasnain Khan, the son and his family at the left side.
Khan's attempt in persuading Palestinians to handover Jerusalem to Israel is not an isolated incident. He has been advocating for Israel in many issues related to Palestine knowing fully well about the atrocities that are being committed by Israeli occupation forces on hapless Palestinians.
Khan has a unique style of preaching. He never criticizes or counsels the oppressors, he only lectures to the oppressed and tries to brainwash them that it is in their interests to live like slaves. Some people say that Khan's brainwashing of Muslims, pushing them to live like slaves in the world is his intellectual oppression on Muslim community. Read more.
Jews believe that the coming of the Messiah before end times is symbolic; it is the redemption of human kind from the evils of the world. Through the doctrine of a Messianic figure, Judaism teaches that every individual human being must live as if he or she, individually and collectively, has the responsibility to bring about the messianic age.
In 1999, the Central Conference of American Rabbis (Jew scholars), the official body of American Rabbis, concluded 'A Statement of Principles of Judaism'. It states - 'Jews saw the Messianic Age, when (Jewish) God's sovereignty is established - is our time'. Meaning, Jewish Rabbis consider that currently the world is in the Messianic Age and their God's sovereignty has been effectively established. Read more.
Like Jews, Khan also believes that the Messiah (Isa - علیھ السلا م ) will not return to Earth as a physical person. He claims that all Islamic literature referring to the 'return of Jesus (Isa - علیھ السلا م ), is about the return of the model of conduct of Jesus (Isa - علیھ السلا م ). Therefore, he urges Muslims to abandon Prophet Mohammad (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) and return to Jesus's (Isa - علیھ السلا م ) Minhaj. Asthagfirullah.
Khan claims that some other scholars like Jamaluddin Afghani, Mohammad Abduh, Syed Rasheed Raza Misri, Mohammad Shaltut, Dr Mohammad Iqbal, Obaidullah Sindhi, Abul Kalam Azad, Mohammad Bin Ahmad Abu Zahrah etc., also did not believe in the second coming of Jesus Christ (Isa - علیھ السلا م ). Be that as it may, but they did not preach their followers to abandon Prophet Mohammad's
There are over 100 Ahadith in which the Prophet (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) has mentioned the physical descent of Jesus Christ (Isa - علیھ السلا م ).
Read the following authentic Hadith.
It is in Hadith - Narrated Abu Huraira (رضئ اللہ تعالی عنہ), the Prophet (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) said: There is no Prophet between me and him, ie, Jesus (Isa - علیھ السلا م ). He (Isa - علیھ السلا م ) will descend (to Earth). When you see him, recognize him : a man of medium height, reddish hair, wearing two light yellow garments, looking as if drops were falling from his head though it will not be wet. He will fight for the cause of Islam. He will break the Cross, kill the swine, and put an end to war. God will perish all religions except Islam. He (Isa - علیھ السلا م ) will destroy Dajjal (the Antichrist) who will live on the Earth for forty days and then he will die. The Muslims will pray behind him (Isa - علیھ السلا م ). (Abu Dawud)
Khan denies clear cut Islamic teachings. He denies authentic Ahadith and misinterprets Ahadith and Quranic verses to prove his point that all Islamic literature referring to the 'return of Jesus (Isa - علیھ السلا م ) is about the return of the model of conduct of Jesus (Isa - علیھ السلا م ).
Read following excerpt from his writing. (al-Risala Journal, August 2007 Edition)
Ya`ni ba`d ke zamaaney main haalaat ke andar aisi tabdeeliyaan waaqi` hoonge ke haalaat ke i`tibaar se hazrat maseeh ka `amaliy model ziyaadah qaabil-e-intibaaq ban jaa'igaa."
(The correct interpretation of the Ahadith and Quranic verses in relation to Isa ( علیھ السلا م ) is that, in the end times what will happen is not the second coming of Isa ( علیھ السلا م ), rather it is the second coming of the model of conduct of Isa ( علیھ السلا م ). Meaning, in the end times changes will take place and according to these changed circumstances the model of conduct of Isa ( علیھ السلا م ) will be more applicable (for Muslims) than the model of conduct of Prophet Mohammad (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم).
In August 2007, edition of al-Risala Journal (P 2-4), Khan claimed that Dajjal is simply an ideology, and not an individual.
He also claimed that Imam Mahdi ( علیھ السلا م ) and Jesus Christ (Isa - علیھ السلا م ) are two names of the same person.
He also claimed that Yajooj and Majooj (Gog and Magog) are in fact names of the nations of Russia (Yajooj - Gog) and UK & Germany (Majooj - Magog).
These issues were covered by him in his Article 'Qiyamat Ka Alarm' in Al-Risala Journal in May 2001. Listen to the audio recordings of May 2001 Al-Risala Journal on this link.
Read below excerpt from his article. (al-Risala Journal, August 2007 Edition)
Hadeeth ke muttabiq, us zamaaney main aik "rajul mu'min" uthaiga jo dajjaal ko qatl kareygaa, magar ye qatl jismaaniy ma`non main na hogaa balke fikriy ma`non main hogaa, ya`ni dajjaal fitna ko expose karnaa. Dajjaal akbar ka muqaabalah karney waaley is rajul-e-mu'min ko hadeeth main "mahdi" kaha gaya hai.
(As per Hadith, in the end times an eminent Momin will rise who will kill Dajjal. But this killing will not be physical, rather it will be an intellectual killing - Meaning it will be an exposure of Dajjal miscreancy (fitna). Dajjal will be an ideological miscreancy, and in it 'killing' means to testify against it, rather than eliminating a life. This great intellectual exposure is referred in Hadith as Killing of Dajjal. The person who will be exposing this ideology has been identified in the Hadith as Mahdi)
(5) DISRESPECT OF PROPHET MOHAMMAD (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) AND SAHABAH (رضئ اللھ تعالی عنہم اجمعین )
In March 1984, the Al-Risala Jounal was published in English Language as well.
In their first English edition, Khan did not write Sallallahu Alaihi wa sallam with Prophet's name.
He also wrote that there is no distinction or hierarchical importance of Prophet Mohammad (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) over other Prophets.
In Chapter 'Not being deceived by the Praise', Khan wrote the following -
QUOTE - "It was the night, Mohammad fled from the people of Makka along with Abu Bakr". UNQUOTE
All Islamic scholars, in all their books write; the Prophet Mohammad (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) migrated to Makka - But Khan uses derogatory words and writes, Prophet (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) fled from the people of Makka along with Abu Bakr (رضئ الله تعالى عنه).
He also does not write (Radiallahu unhu) with the Sahabah.
In the same edition, he has used the word "coward" for Hadhrat Umar (رضئ اللہ تعالی عنہ) and attributed it to Hadhrat Abu Bakr Siddique (رضئ اللہ تعالی عنہ). (Astaghfirullahal Azeem). Read more...
(6) WAHIDUDDIN KHAN'S UNITED STATES VISIT
It is reported that, in 2011 a few learned Muslims attended a live talk by Wahiduddin Khan at a Mosque in the United States. Since they were aware of his un-Islamic beliefs, they confronted him and requested him to explain about these beliefs to the audience. Particularly, they referred to his controversial beliefs on the blessed Uswah of Prophet Mohammad (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) as well as about the descent of Hadhrat `Isa (علیھ السلا م) and the coming of Mehdi (علیھ السلا م), and the emergence of Dajjaal.
Khan bluntly refused to answer the question regarding the descent of Hadhrat`Isa (علیھ السلا م).
When asked if he believes the blessed "uswah" to be perfect and complete, Khan dodged the question by simply saying that his (Prophet's - صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) Uswa are "authentic".
On this, some heated arguments were exchanged between the followers of Khan and those who demanded his explanations. During these exchanges, one brother from the audience shouted that Khan said the word "Prophet" 9 times but did not send peace and blessings upon the Prophet (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) even once during his talk.
Looking at the brewing trouble, the Imam of the mosque intervened and canceled the event on the spot. The brothers who confronted Khan later informed the audience that they had been challenging Wahiduddin Khan and his followers for a written or oral debate for the past several years on these topics but they did not get even one response in return.
Khan mentions about the above incident:
In his article, titled "Spirituality vs. Materialism" dated July 11th 2011, Khan mentioned about the above incident. He wrote, some people criticized him for not sending salawaat/salaam whenever he mentioned the name of the Prophet (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) in his lecture during his recent visit to United States. And to support his action, he alleged that Hadhrat Abu Bakr Siddique (رضئ اللہ تعالی عنہ) also did not send salawat/salam upon the the Prophet (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) when he said these famous words ( من كان يعبد محمدا - Whoever worshiped Muhammad) in a Hadith reported by Bukhari.
Khan's above statement is a lie and a slander on Hadhrat Abu Bakr Siddique We have provided below full Hadith of Bukhari in Arabic in which Hadhrat Abu Bakr Siddique (رضئ اللہ تعالی عنہ) did recite salawat.
(7) KHAN CLAIMED HE IS MEHDI AND PROMISED MESSIAH
Gulam Nabi Kashafi, a long time confident and associate of Wahiduddin Khan, who defended Khan's ideologies for decades, wrote a book in Urdu titled (Maulana Wahiduddin Khan and His claim to be Mehdi and Jesus Christ) (ie., two in one). Read the following interesting English translated excerpts from the above book.
QUOTE - A negative mentality has overtaken on Wahiduddin Khan. Now he finds faults with the Islamic History and literally all important personalities of Islam. As a result, people who had been impressed and influenced by his message of positive thinking, gradually turned away from him. He is now identified as an advocate of non-Muslims, against Muslims, rather than a reformer of Muslim community. UNQUOTE
Kashafi further wrote in the book :
QUOTE - In May 2010, Al Risala came out titled 'Qayamat ka alarm' (The alarm of Day of Judgment). In this issue Khan discussed about the signs of Qayamah (Day of Judgment).
In June 2010 issue, Khan wrote : ‘Signs tell us that the Day of Judgment is imminent, therefore, it would be right to infer (conclude) that Dajjal and the Messiah and Mehdi have already appeared.’ (Al Risala June 2010; p5).
Khan elaborated - the Messiah or Mehdi who has already appeared has the following personality traits:
(i) 'In this situation the first task of Messiah or Mehdi would be to discover a non-military ideology of Islam.' (Al Risala, Aug 2010)
(ii) 'The confrontation with Dajjal will be in the sense that Messiah will expose him by intellectually analyzing his mischief'. (Al Risala 2010; p53)
(iii) ' Mehdi will exceptionally be a rightly guided man. He will neither claim himself to be the Mehdi nor a voice from the heavens will announce that he is Mehdi and will ask people to believe in him and follow him.' (Al Risala May 2010; p 36)
(iv) 'About the Mehdi, the Hadith says that ‘his name would be similar to Prophet Here name denotes character.’ (P 38)
(v) 'Mehdi’s task would not be akin to a political revolution but to a revolution on the intellectual level among the individuals.' (p 39)
(vi) 'From the study of Ahadith, it becomes evident that Dajjal or Dajjalism is in fact a fitna (mischief) of the scientific age. It will be for the first time in the scientific age that some people would create the impression that Truth cannot survive in the face of the progress in learning and knowledge. Then with the blessing of God a man will emerge who will destroy this Dajjalism with scientific arguments.' (P 18)
(vii) 'The promised Messiah and Mehdi are symbolically different names of the same personality.' (P 41)
Joins all the above points, you will clearly see the picture of Wahiduddin Khan emerge in front of your eyes. Look, he is not saying openly that he is Mehdi and the promised Messiah, but he is describing all his personal traits and his self-developed ideology in such a way that people will start calling him Mehdi and the promised Messiah. UNQUOTE
It is in Quran - . [Meaning- When those who disbelieved (Makkan Pagans) expelled him (Prophet Mohammad - صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم), he (Abu Bakr رضئ اللہ تعالی عنہ ) : being the second of the two, when they were both in the cave, when he (Prophet - صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) said to his companion (Abu Bakr - رضئ اللہ تعالی عنہ ) : Grieve not, surely Allah is with us. So Allah sent down His tranquility upon him and strengthened him with hosts which you did not see]
The above verse is related to an incident that took place during Prophet Mohammad's (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) migration to Madina, when both the Prophet (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) and Hadhrat Abu Bakr ( رضئ اللہ تعالی عنہ ) were hiding in a cave to avoid being spotted by Makkan Pagans. In this verse, "Saniyasnain" ( ثَانِيَ اثْنَيْنِ ) was the title awarded to Hadhrat Abu Bakr ( رضئ اللہ تعالی عنہ ).
It is interesting to note that Wahiduddin Khan has named his only son, born in 1959 as "Saniyasnain" Khan.
Does it mean that Wahiduddin Khan also treats himself and his son in a similar position like "a Prophet and his Companion/Khalifa"?
Our above observation is based on the suggestive claims of Khan (described in points i to vii above) in which he is trying to assert that he is Jesus Christ and Mehdi.
Look at the way Khan dresses, and look at his beard and hair style and headgear. He wants to look like Jesus Christ portrayed in Hollywood movies.
There are two types of fake Prophets: (1) who openly say that they are Prophets, and (2) who deny by mouth, but act like Prophets, and lead people from their suggestive writings and actions to believe in them as Prophets. Khan belongs to the second category.
(8) KHAN'S INTIMACY WITH RSS AND HINDU GODMEN
Khan supports most of the controversial actions of Hindu extremist organizations against Muslims. He advised Muslims to hand over Babri mosque to Hindus. He cited some unrelated instances of Islamic history to support his argument. Khan very well knows the hand of BJP/RSS in the destruction of Babri Mosque. He also knows the whole show which was directed and led by LK Advani. The mosque destruction was followed by bloody riots in India in 1992 which resulted in the killing of thousands of Muslims. These facts are known to everyone in the world. But Khan does not say a word against Hindu extremists who were behind this naked dance of barbarism. He blames Muslims for the whole episode. Muslims in India are bewildered. They fail to understand what kind of role Khan is playing. The million dollar question is, Khan is working for whom? Read more...

(9) KHAN ATTACKS QURAN AND PROPHET MOHAMMAD'S
In August 2009, Sri Venkataramana Swamy College in Mangalore disallowed 19 year old Muslim girl Ayesha Ashmin for 12 days because she wore a headscarf. This incident made headlines in national newspapers and people from all walks of life condemned the high handedness of the College administration. But Khan came out in defence of the College Administration and claimed that wearing a Head Scarf or a Burqa is un-Islamic. He said if the College has a rule for girls not to wear Head scarf, they should follow. If you do not agree, then you should quit. If you do not quit, the College has a right to kick you out.
The daughter of Wahiduddin Khan, Fareeda Khanam, who teaches at Jamia Millia College, New Delhi, supported the views of her father. She is the Chairperson of the Center for Peace and Spirituality, established by Khan in New Delhi. She is the Chairperson of CPS International, Centre for Peace and Spirituality, an organization founded by the Islamic Scholar, Maulana Wahiduddin Khan. - See more at: http://www.cpsglobal.org/content/dr-farida-khanam-profile#sthash.0i0Fkp0P.dpuf

Fareeda Khanam added that Burqa has become a symbol of rigidity and has nothing to do with Islam. Muslims should accept that the Burqa, a part of subcontinental culture, has been used for suicide bombings. Why not avoid the burqa? Burqa is not part of any Islamic dress code. She disclosed that she urges her Muslim female students at Jamia Millia University not wear Burqa. Leave the regidity and be modern.
Tell your wives and your daughters and the women of the believers to draw their cloaks (veils) all over their bodies (screen themselves completely). That will be better, that they should be known (as respectable women) so as not to be annoyed. And Allah (سبحانہ و تعا لی) is Ever Oft‑Forgiving, Most Merciful] (Al-Ahzab - 59)
It is in Hadith - It was narrated from ‘Urwah (رضئ اللہ تعالی عنہ) that Ummul Momineen A’isha (رضئ اللہ تعالی عنہا) said: The Apostle of Allah(صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) used to pray Fajr and the believing women would attend (the prayer) with him, wrapped in their aprons, then they would go back to their houses and no one would recognize them. (Bukhari & Muslim).
Even in Western countries women have realized the importance of covering themselves properly to avoid inviting attention of criminals and unscrupulous elements prowling the streets. The western women have realized that it is important for women to dress properly and avoid looking objects of lust. Be it a man or a woman, your dress code gives the first impression to the world the kind of person you are. If you are decently dressed, people will respect you. If you wear revealing dresses, exposing your bust and butt, then you are compromising your own security.
There is a difference between using only head scarf or not wearing a full Burqa in view of unavoidable circumstances. Like a woman is doing a job essentially needed to feed her starving family/old parents/ in-laws and her job requires her to show her face and interact with male colleagues; in such a circumstance, the woman will be forced to wear only head scarf and use loose and decent dress, which does not expose her body inappropriately. This kind of dress, though does not meet full Islamic requirements, it is hoped that In Sha Allah she will be forgiven. However, whenever circumstances change and she is able to wear a full burqa (Abaya), then it is good for her to come back to full Islamic code. This kind of understanding is Sahih Iman. But to claim that Burqa or Head scarf is un-Islamic, or interpret Quranic verses and Ahadith to suit your new found faith, this will be treated by Allah's appointed Angels who record your deeds as denial (kufr) of Quranic verses and Ahadith. In such a scenario, you are walking on a dangerous path which leads you to only one place after your death; ie, Hell Fire. The choice is yours.
The media who covered the story wrote : Khan is the author of "Discovering Islam from Its Original Sources". (10) KHAN SUPPORTS SALMAN RUSHDIE
Ahmed Salman Rushdie was born in India to Kashmiri Muslim parents on June 19, 1947 in Mumbai, India. However, he is a self confessed 'Athiest'. In Islamic terminology, he is a Murtad (a person who has left Islamic faith). He is a writer who writes novels and short stories. Currently he lives in the United States.
In 1988, Rushdie wrote a book titled "The Satanic Verses" in which he insulted the Prophet (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) and his house hold in a very derogatory manner.
The publication of this book sparked protests by Muslims who demanded Rushdie to apologize and remove the objectionable content from his book.
If someone has hurt the feelings of over one and half billion people in the world in the name of freedom of expression, then as a gentleman it was his duty to apologize for hurting the sentiments of such a large population. A simple apology would have been sufficient from Rushdie and the controversy would have died down then and there.
In the 1990, he issued a statement in order to defuse the row. He claimed that he had renewed his Muslim faith, had repudiated the attacks on Islam in his novel and was committed to working for better understanding of the religion across the world. However, he backtracked from that statement later and claimed in an interview that his reversion to the religion of his birth was all a ‘pretense’.
In January 2012, a 5-day literature festival was organized in Jaipur, India in which Salman Rushdie was invited. He was scheduled to address an event in the Festival titled ‘‘Midnight’s Child,’’ a reference to Rushdie’s book "Midnight’s Children."
When the news of Rushdie's participation in the Festival became public, it is reported that some Muslim organizations objected to it and requested Government of India to persuade Rushdie to tender apology for his outrageous remarks in his book. Yellow Journalists used this opportunity and spread the rumor that there was a threat to the life of Rushdie if he visited India. So Rushdie cancelled his trip to India. Later his video Conference call to the Festival was also cancelled by the Organizers for reasons best known to them.
During an interview to New York times, Wahiduddin Khan supported Rushdie. He said, the protesters were completely wrong in doing what they did. Salman Rushdie has every right to come to this country (India). I heard his interview after the video conference was cancelled and agree with him when he said that all other freedoms rest on the freedom of expression. If you abolish the freedom of expression, all other freedoms will cease to exist." Read more.
As usual Wahiduddin Khan conveniently forgot the insult Rushdie has meted out to Prophet Mohammad (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم), his Ahle Bait and the Muslim Ummah as a whole. What Muslims wanted was a simple authentic apology from Rushdie. Wahiduddin Khan did not say a word in this context. He only talked about freedom of expression of Salman Rushdie. And what is this Freedom? It is the freedom to insult others, play with their sentiments.
For Khan, to hurt the sentiments of 1.5 billion Muslims, insulting their Prophet (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) and his household has no value. He only advocates for the freedom of Salman Rushdie so that he is perpetually free to insult Muslim Ummah through his writings. Read more.
(11) KHAN CLAIMS MIRZA GHULAM AHMED QADIANI IS AN ISLAMIC SCHOLAR AND REFORMER
In his October 2011 edition of Al-Risala, Khan wrote that "Mirza Ghulam Ahmed Qadiani never said from his tongue that I am a Prophet of God. He only said that he is 'Zill-e-Nabi' (Shadow of the Prophet). This kind of statement can be termed as eccentricity (folly), but it cannot be treated as a claim of Prophet hood."
We have provided below the actual statement of Khan he wrote in Urdu.
Wahiduddin Khan b 1925
Mohammad Sayeed Khan of Islamabad, Pakistan has written a book in Urdu refuting Wahiduddin Khan's claims that Ghulam Ahmed Qadiani never said he is Prophet. Urdu knowing readers can read this small booklet on this link.
We have provided below some references from Qadiani books for our readers to know about the beliefs and statements of Mirza Ghulam Ahmad Qadiyani. It is strange that Wahiduddin Khan considers him a Muslim scholar and an eminent reformer.

Apart from Mirza Ghulam Ahmad Qadiani, there are 3 more people in Ahmadiya community who claimed themselves as prophets.
Mirza Basheer-ud-Din Mahmood Ahmad (1889–1965), the eldest son of Mirza Ghulam Ahmad from his second wife Nusrat Jahan Begum, was second Khalifa of Ghulam Ahmed Qadiani. In 1944 he declared that he is Musleh Maud and that he receives revelations (Wahi) from God. Read more...

In addition to the above, there are many other claimants of leadership/Mujaddid in Ahmadi/Qadiani religion who claim themselves Khalifatullah. They are Amir Zafrullah Domun; Mohiyyuddin Munir Ahmed Azam; Nasir Ahmed Sultani, etc.
(12) THE COMMONALITY BETWEEN QADIYANIS AND WAHEEDIS
(i) Qadianis and Wahidees, both call each other as Muslims. They also claim their founders are great reformers of Ummah during their respective times. However, they are treated as out of Islam by a majority of Muslims all over the world.
(ii) The founder of Qadianism, Ghulam Ahmad Qadiani and founder of Waheedism, Wahiduddin Khan claimed that Jesus Christ died a natural death and his grave is in Kashmir, India.
(iii) There are two types of fake Prophets: (a) who openly say that they are Prophets, and (b) who deny by mouth, but act like Prophets, and lead people from their suggestive writings and actions to believe in them as Prophets. Ghulam Ahmad belongs to the first category, and Khan belongs to the second category.
(iv) Both the founders, Qadiani and Wahiduddin, are loyal supporters and spokespersons for the people in power during their times.
Mirza Ghulam Ahmad Qadiani wrote - "My father was a well-known landlord who enjoyed great eminence in the Government's offices. He was a true devotee and well wisher of the British Government. In the mutiny of 1857 (Independence Movement against British colonialism), my father supplied fifty horses and riders to aid the British Government. For this favor to the Government, he was very popular among the officials." (Izala-e-Auham, P. 58, footnote)
"I come from a family which is out and out loyal to this (British) government. My father, Mir Ghulam Murtaza, who was considered its well-wisher, used to be granted a chair in the Governor's Darbar (Royal Court) and has been mentioned by Mr. Griffin in his 'History of the Princes of Punjab'. In 1857, he helped the British government beyond his means, that is he procured fifty (50) cavaliers and horses right during the time of the mutiny. He was considered by the government to be its loyal supporter and well-wisher.
A number of testimonials of appreciation received by my Father from the officers have unfortunately been lost. Copies of three of them, however, which had been published a long time ago, are reproduced in the margin. Then, after the death of my grandfather, my elder brother Mirza Ghulam Qadir remained occupied with service to the government and when the evil-doers encountered the forces of the British government on the highway of Tanmmun, he participated in the battle on the side of the British Government (under General Nicholson he killed several freedom fighters). At the time of the death of my father and brother, I was sitting in the sidelines; but, since then, I have been helping the British for seventeen years with my pen."(Kitab-ul-Barriah, Roohany Khazaen, Vol. 13, P. 4, 5, 6, 7; Shahadat-ul-Quran, Roohany Khazaen, Vol. 6, P. 385-387; Ishtihar Wajib al-Izhar, Sept. 20, 1897, P. 3-7; appended with Kitab-ul-Barriah)
Wahiduddin Khan walks on the foot steps of Mirza Ghulam Ahmad Qadiani
He is also loyal to the people in power. In the picture Khan is seen receiving Sadbhavana Award in August 2010.
As a matter of fact, Khan is a step ahead of Ghulam Ahmad Qadiani. He is considered more loyal to the powerful politicians in India. His intimacy with RSS/BJP/Israeli Politicians is well known.
Khan has developed a considerable following in India and abroad. Particularly a large Salafi population is staunch follower of Khan. His books and his Quran translation have been widely distributed in the Arab world. His Quran translation contains many Qadiani beliefs, like Jesus Christ is dead and that Mehdi's coming in the end times is a false belief. Khan also urged Muslims to abandon the teachings of Prophet Mohammad (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) as (according to him) these are no more applicable in the present time.
The Islamic Society of North America (ISNA), is an influential front Organization working to promote Salafism in the United States, Canada and other countries. It is reported that ISNA controls over 70% Mosques in the United States and Canada.
Following is ISNA opinion about Wahiduddin Khan, published on their official Website.
QUOTE - Maulana Wahiduddin Khan is an Islamic spiritual scholar who is well versed in both classical Islamic learning and modern science. He has devoted much time and effort to the development of a complete ideology of peace and non-violence based on the teachings of the Quran. In the course of his research, the Maulana came to the conclusion that the need of the hour was to present Islamic teachings in the style and language of the present day. Keeping this ideal consistently before him, he has written over 200 books on Islam. UNQUOTE Read more.
When you read the above statement carefully, you will realize that ISNA is confirming and attesting the new beliefs propagated by Wahiduddin Khan that are based on abandoning the model of teachings of Prophet Mohammad (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) and embracing the new teachings of Khan, that includes denial of second coming of Jesus Christ, denial of emergence of Imam Mahdi and Dajjal in the end times.
(13) FATAWA-E-KUFR ON WAHIDUDDIN KHAN
Muftis from various groups have also issued Fatawa-e-Kufr on Wahiduddin Khan. A Deobandi Mufti from South Africa gave the Following Fatwa on Wahiduddin Khan.
QUOTE - Undoubtedly this person (Wahiduddin Khan) is a confirmed Kafir masquerading as a Muslim. In fact he is a Shaitaan in Human form. It is haram to read and distribute his books. His Da'wa is an invitation to Jahannum. UNQUOTE

The Sharia Board of America has issued a Fatwa-e-Kufr on Wahiduddin Khan as follows:
QUOTE - The beliefs (of Wahiduddin Khan) are incorrect and against the beliefs of mainstream Islam. Such a person should repent and recite the shahada again UNQUOTE
The above Fatwa is available on this link.
Dar-ul-Iftaa of Darul Uloom Karachi, and Darul-Iftah al-Masriya (Egypt) both have issued Fatwa-e-Kufr on Whiduddin Khan. These Fatawas can be read/downloaded on these links. (1) Fatwa by Darul Iftaa' of Darul `Uloom Karachi.pdf, (2) Fatwa by Darul Iftaa' al-Masriyyah.pdf
Maulana Wahiduddin Khan is an Islamic spiritual scholar who has adopted peace as the mission of his life. Known for his Gandhian views, he considers non-violence as the only method to achieve success.
Internationally recognized for his contributions to world peace, he has received, among others, the Demiurgus Peace International Award, the Padma Bhushan, the Rajiv Gandhi National Sadbhavna Award and the National Citizen's Award. A recent book, The 500 Most Influential Muslims of 2009 by Georgetown University, Washington DC, has named him “Islam’s Spiritual Ambassador to the world.” His approach, the book points out, is “popular among Indians, both Muslim and non-Muslim.”
Born in Azamgarh in 1925, the Maulana was educated in a traditional seminary.
Having lost his father, Fariduddin Khan, at an early age in 1929, he was brought up by his mother, Zaibunnisa Khatoon and his uncle, Sufi Abdul Hamid Khan, arranged for his education. He comments that becoming an orphan very early in life taught him that, to succeed in life, you have to take such situations as challenges and not as problems. Being an advocate of result-oriented and positive action, he explains that treating such situations as problems can only be negative in result. All you can do in this state is either try to fight to remove them or lodge complaints or protests against them. On the other hand, if you take such situations as challenges, you can positively and constructively work to overcome them yourself, as and when suitable opportunities present themselves. His success in life is largely due to the implementation of this and other such principles, which he has derived from Islamic scriptures.
Since his family was involved in India’s freedom struggle from the very outset, as a very young man he became a staunch nationalist with Gandhian values in the period prior to India gaining its independence in 1947, and he continues to be such till today. Although his brother, Abdul Muhit Khan, his cousin Iqbal Ahmad Sohail and other members of his family were sent to western-style schools for their education, the young Wahiduddin was enrolled at a traditional Islamic seminary, the Madrasatul Islahi, in Sarai Mir, near Azamgarh in 1938 to receive religious education. Here he spent six years, completing this course and graduating in 1944.
From childhood he unconsciously loved to live in nature. When during his days at the seminary he learnt that the Quran teaches man to observe and reflect on nature – God’s creation; he consciously began to imbibe this principle in his life. Henceforth, observation and reflection became the seeds that were to develop in him a scientific and analytical bent of mind, which he effectively applies till today in both religious and secular fields.
After graduating from this seminary of traditional Islamic learning, he started interacting with people to begin his life – considering his education to be complete. As it happened, the people whom he came across had received a modern, English medium education. During some of these interactions, he was deeply shocked to realize that, although his education had been completed, he was not able to respond to statements and questions put to him by others such as, “You can believe in religion only as a matter of faith, as it falls only into the framework of primary rationalism and not secondary rationalism,” and “Will there be anything lacking in history if Prophet Muhammad were to be taken out of it?” Questions such as these presented a new challenge to him.
His elder brother wanted him to join the family business, but realizing that, without studying English and modern science, his education would be incomplete, the young Khan immersed himself in learning English and then went on to study innumerable books on science and contemporary thought. Developing a voracious appetite for knowledge, he would visit the library early in the morning and leave only when requested to do so by the librarian at closing time. His quest for knowledge can be gauged by the fact that, even today he constantly questions all visitors coming to him, so that he may gain fresh knowledge from interacting with them.
Well-versed in Traditional Disciplines and Modern Sciences
As a result of his quest and resulting research, he became well versed in both classical Islamic learning and modern science. He then realized the need to present Islamic teachings in the style and language of modern times. Khan’s primary concern has been to present Islam as a perfectly suitable ideology for the modern age. Having a deep understanding of the original Arabic scriptures and with his extensive research in the fields of modern thought and science, Maulana has presented to the world – in the modern idiom – the real face of Islam, based as it is on peace, tolerance and co-existence. He dispels the notion that Islam is a religion of violence, a notion that has gained currency in the present times, because of Islam being misrepresented and therefore misunderstood. He deals at great length in his writings with issues relating to pluralism, inter-faith dialogue and peace. Let us now turn to Khan’s own distinct interpretation of how Islam can be understood in the modern world, an interpretation which claims to be both authentic and at the same time relevant in the present day context.
Upon completion of his research, in 1955, he published his first book, Naye Ahd Ke Darwaze Par, or ‘On the Threshold of a New Era’. This book, the result of his exhaustive studies, was further elaborated upon in his next work, Ilme Jadid Ka Challenge, or ‘Islam and Modern Challenges’, which was later published as ‘God Arises’. The culmination of his research was his book, Al Islam, in which he presented the ideology developed by him, which was completely based on the original Islamic Scriptures. Continuing to write since then, he has authored over 200 books.
His book, ‘God Arises’ has been accepted as the standard Islamic position on modern thought and has been incorporated in the curricula of universities in over six Arab countries. It has been translated into various languages, such as English, Arabic, Malay, Turkish, Hindi, Malayalam and Sindhi. Its Arabic version has been published under the title of Al-Islam Yatahadda and has become popular throughout the Arab world.
From 1967 onwards, he has been addressing public and private gatherings in order to advocate a policy, which should be constructive, nationalist and inter-nationalist in nature. He has become actively involved in serving the cause of national and international unity based on peace and inter-faith harmony, and has extended his mission to interfaith efforts, by which he seeks, in the modern idiom, to present to the world the peaceful, tolerant spirit of Islam. Over a period of time, he has begun to contribute articles to various journals and newspapers, and has become a regular contributor to several national and international dailies and magazines.
Launch of Islamic Centre and Al-Risala
To give full expression to these positive ideas, he established the Islamic Centre at New Delhi in 1970. Subsequently, the organ of the Centre, Al-Risala – the monthly magazine – was launched in Urdu in 1976. This journal, consisting entirely of his own articles, quickly acquired a wide circulation throughout the Urdu-speaking world, and has done much to make people understand the peaceful face of Islam, to awaken in Muslims a new awareness of their social responsibilities and to promote positive thinking and action. The first issues of the English and Hindi versions of Al-Risala were launched respectively in February 1984, and December 1990. The English version continues to be published under the title of Spiritual Message till today.
An Ambassador of Peace
In 1992, when the atmosphere was so highly charged throughout India due to the Babri Mosque incident, he felt the necessity to convince people of the need to restore peace and amity between the two communities, so that the country might once again tread the path of progress. To fulfill this end, he went on a 15-day Shanti Yatra (peace march) through Maharashtra along with Acharya Muni Sushil Kumar and Swami Chidanand, addressing large groups of people at 35 different places on the way from Mumbai to Nagpur. This Shanti Yatra contributed greatly to the return of peace in the country.
It is because of his advocacy of peace on the subcontinent and throughout the world and his espousal of the cause of communal harmony that he is respected by all communities and in every circle of society. Invited to meetings by all religious groups and communities within India and abroad, Maulana Wahiduddin Khan is, in effect, India's spiritual ambassador, spreading the universal message of peace, love and harmony.
Directly addressing individuals, he has been re-engineering minds in order to develop positive and spiritually inclined citizens of the world – who can live together peacefully – so that the culture of peace and spirituality may spread at a universal level. Over decades, he has prepared a team of individuals – the Ambassadors of Peace.
A Clear Translation of the Quran
Realizing the need for a clear translation of and commentary on the Quran, he translated the Quran into Urdu along with a commentary in the form of Tazkirul Quran. It’s English – The Quran, and Hindi – Pavitra Quran, versions have recently been published. According to Maulana, there are more than a dozen translations of the Quran in English. However, the clarity that is there in the Arabic Quran is lacking in all of the translations. His translation, The Quran is an endeavour to give to the world an English translation of the Quran which is clear and gives a scientific interpretation, which will satisfactorily address the minds of people of the post-scientific era.
He has authored over 200 books on Islam, prophetic wisdom, spirituality and peaceful co-existence in a multi-ethnic society, the most recent being The Prophet of Peace: The Teachings of Prophet Muhammad published by Penguin Books; Jihad, Peace and Inter-Community Relations in Islam published by Rupa and The Ideology of Peace. These books not only offer a peaceful solution to the menace of terrorism, but also helps people understand the concept of peace in Islam.
Maulana Wahiduddin Khan, who is well traveled, and the recipient of several national and International awards, has made a very great contribution to world peace in his tireless campaign to avert the danger of a nuclear conflict between various countries. To this end he put forward a proposal for a worldwide movement for nuclear disarmament at a peace forum held at Zug in Switzerland in 2002. On that occasion, he was awarded the Demiurgus Peace International Award by the Nuclear Disarmament Forum AG. The award, under the patronage of the former Soviet President Mikhail Gorbachev, was given to acknowledge his outstanding achievements in strengthening peace among nations and for his efforts to develop a complete ideology of peace and present Islamic teachings in the style and language of the present day. The award was presented at a ceremony by Dr Alexander Bessmertnykh, chairman of the World Council of Former Foreign Ministers (WCFFM). He has also been awarded the title of Ambassador of Peace by the International Federation for World Peace, Korea.
Some of the other awards presented to him are the Padam Bhushan, the Rajiv Gandhi National Sadbhavna Award, the National Integration Award, the Communal Harmony Award, the Diwaliben Mohan Lal Mehta Award, presented by the former President of India, the National Amity Award, presented by the former Prime Minister of India, the Dilli Gaurav Award, presented by the Chief Minister of Delhi, the FIE Foundation Award, the Urdu Academy Award, the Aruna Asaf Ali Sadbhavna Award and the National Citizen’s Award, presented by Mother Teresa.
Centre for Peace and Spirituality International
To spread spiritual wisdom based on peace to mankind across the globe, Maulana Wahiduddin Khan established CPS International, i.e. Centre for Peace and Spirituality in January 2001. As is apparent from its name, the organization aims to promote and reinforce the culture of peace through mind-based spirituality. Under Maulana’s patronage and inspired by his spiritual wisdom, the activities of the centre: peace efforts and inter-faith efforts to help individuals understand the importance of peace. With the objective of unleashing their spiritual potential so as to construct intellectually awakened positive personalities, the centre shares spiritual wisdom. The objective of these efforts is to enable individuals to de-condition and re-engineer their minds - which according to Maulana is the real personality of man - along positive lines.
The goal of CPS is to bring about an intellectual revolution in the individuals and reveal their true, positive personalities so that they become peaceful members of society.
The centre helps inquisitive minds, intellectuals and seekers after truth to find their purpose of life. It aims at helping them to rationally find answers to questions pertaining to the ideology of life. It also gives a scientific explanation of the Monotheistic concept of God, the Hereafter and the Creation Plan of God. As a result, participants, while understanding their purpose in life, embark on a journey in search of truth. This elevates their consciousness by allowing their intellect to discover their Creator and lead a God-oriented life in accordance with the principles laid down by their Creator. Maulana believes that when individuals such as these are collected in sufficient numbers, it results in a peaceful society.
The sphere of action of CPS International is global. The centre is giving to the people of the world a sustainable message of truth, peace and spirituality and training them based on the universal principles of life,. This is being done using all peaceful means: the publication of books, magazines, on-line material; one-on-one interactions in the daily and spiritual sessions; addressing individuals and groups in inter-faith and peace efforts, lectures, conferences and seminars; production of audio-visual material; and television and radio broadcasts. Through these activities, the Ambassadors of Peace and Spirituality have made it their life’s ambition to take the message of peace and spirituality to every corner of the globe – to reach each and every home!- See more at: http://www.cpsglobal.org/mwk#sthash.PBx8rqQC.dpuf
At one hand Wahiduddin Khan blames Muslims for their plight in the world, and on the other, he is pushing Muslims to abandon Prophet Mohammad's (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) path and adopt the model of conduct of Jesus Christ (Isa - علیھ السلا م ). In essence he is destroying Islam and Muslims both.
Creating peace and amity between people of all faiths and different ethnic backgrounds is a good thing. It is important that everyone in the world adheres to the principles of peace and progress in human society. However, to achieve this objective you do not have to develop a new thinking, new ideology in an established religion.
It is generally observed that whenever there is a conflict in which extremists from Zionists and Safaron Ultras terrorize hapless poor Muslims, Khan takes the side of extremists and makes Muslims believe that it is their fault that they did not learn to live like slaves. It looks he is mentally preparing the entire Muslim nation to live like slaves in the world.
Khan is the founder of Waheedi Deviant Sect. His followers have been brainwashed about his so called positive thinking. When facts are presented to them, they turn their faces in opposite direction. How can you follow a person who has led you to abandon the path of Prophet Mohammad (صلى الله عليه و آله وسلم) in the name of new thinking and new ideology. What will happen to these followers in the Hereafter, is anybody's guess.
We hope that WAHEEDIS (followers of Wahiduddin Khan) will realize the damage Khan has done to Islam and Muslims in general, and to thousands of his followers, in particular, from his strange rhetoric. We expect that Waheedis will restrain themselves from causing further damage to Muslim Ummah.
Will Waheedis ever realize the damage they are causing to Islam and Muslims by their un-Islamic rhetoric; only the time will tell? We hope they will come back to Sahih Iman and ensure their success in this world and salvation in Hereafter.
We would like to reiterate that we have nothing against the person of Wahiduddin Khan, his followers, or anyone mentioned in this Article. We have provided some facts and expect that these will help people to have a clear understanding of Islamic issues.
We sincerely regret if any of our statements in this article caused unintended discomfort to anyone in the world.WAMA ALAINA ILLAL BALAGH
The Life after Death is very long and we pray Allah (سبحانہ و تعا لی) to put all of us on the right path of Islam so that we get salvation in Hereafter. Ameen.
